For those of you Scionist who like the fact that Scion Security utilizes the key for the alarm, and thats the ONLY reason you get it... you now have a couple of Options. While this current option im showing you guys is alot Cheaper than top bands like Clifford/Viper (all under DEI) This companies alarms (under galaxy and astra) Have been strong competitors to their market and has actually beat the DEI in some features vs. price. This module, utilizes your key, and provides a shock/rock sensor and is also wired to your cars parking lamps etc. etc. therfore giving you an alarm identical to the scion security (without the tap-glass feature Scion provides) at a low low cost. Average install price is about $99. This module is also very cheap ranging from $69-$99, and produces a genuine alarm system (With That audibile chirp ya'll want from scion!) The Astra 20. It is a factory upgrade for those with keyless entry but no alarm! I've tested it in the Hyundai's that come with no alarm and the sensor can be set very sensetive (if u pull open the handle on the driver side, and let go it'll warn away) To basic "will only go off if door is opened" system. To check it out or order (Im not doing a for sale thing, i am in no way shape or form related to scytek/astra/galaxy alarm systems) www.scytek.net They seem to be doing great things with alarm systems nowadays... ..i know my astra 777 is awesome, this should be just as great. Not Clifford top of the line stuff, but very competitive. |

Another thing i'll do for people is use factory key buttons to create pulses to active remote starters. granted. the range SUCKS but still. some people just can't deal with the little dangly remote. I did one with a -input signal 3 times to remote start. connected it to the door lock wire of the alarm, and voila... remote start with the push of your factory key fob. =) later man |

Sorry i haven't been around. Alot of stuff has come up lately. But in reference to your question. They are relying on the fact your car does have a NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH. Something not alot of cars have installed in them. but some hondas. some toyotas, and some other imported cars do. That switch is built in to recognize neutral already. then you tap into it to get the signal you need. alot of people have relayed theres to show the proper ground needed for the remote start to activate, but now they have the wirebuiltin with internal relays. So it's still not really safe if your car doesn't have a neutral safety sensing wire already. pinswitches on the gear is the best way, or, even a mercury switch titled so that if it's not straight up and down. it grounds. there are tons of ways i can think about doing them. but nothing really safe other than the neutral safety wire. Ill find out if our scions do or do not have that wire some time this weekend. IF none of my friends know, i'm sure dei will. \ and when i do i'll post the PROPER diagram needed for a non-remote start safe alarm / rs to interface with that neutral safety switch. anything else, lemme know in PMs |

That basically work as turbo timers you'd see on any sports car/turbo with a manual. They leave the car on when you take the key out forcing you to leave it in neutral. Again. Not foolproof at all. the best way is as stated above, haven't had time to find out anything on the toyota neutral safety. but some of their manuals did have them (Trucks) that had an automatic clutch bypass for towing reasons. anything else, just let me know... later |

TRD_TC, I can't find Astra 20 in the web link you provide. Can you check if you are giving the right model? ALso, do I have to rewire something if I use Astra 20? Thanks |
