I think the car looks great, I just think its a rip off. I'm not a honda hater I just love cars in general. But I just wouldn't be able to make myself spend that much money on a CIVIC when I could get a tC ( not because they are necessarily better but because everyone and there mom doesn't have one) or an RSX or an SRT-4. Just not a smart use of money IMO.

I read in an article that all the pictures of the new SI are for show only. Factory produced SIs will not have the black hood, body accents. May come with smaller wheels.

I think Honda is trying to base it off of the tC. None of the past si's have had such a low profile hatch like that one. You can't really tell that it even is a hatcback. Very similar to the tC.

from the side it looks very similar to the tC, but i doubt it'll end up looking that way.. I remember seeing a concept drawing for the tC on SL i think.. it looked really futuristic/modern, much like the SI concept.. i'm sure the new SI will be a severly watered down version of the concept in those pics I hear it comes with the type-s engine though

Don't the features determine what it is worth, not the model name? This isn't any Civic Si you or anyone else has ever checked out, seen in person, driven, etc. It dumb as hell how people stereotype Civics, even new models that aren't even out yet. LAME, IMO. Who cares what a few dumbasses will do to a car - No doubt there are already tCs with big aluminum wings on the road today, with more to come. BTW, the new Si will have 200hp - how much would the tC with SC installed cost?? Hmmm....

Those numbers are NOT for the Si - it says right under that. Actually, the production Si looks nearly IDENTICAL to that, minus the black hood, yellow fogs, and center exit exhaust.

It will look nearly identical and have 200hp w/6 speed manual. Not watered down, IMO. Reports have even said it will keep the 18s and possibly the Brembos.

That sucks. No BIG differences though, right? No black hood, no center exit exhaust, no yellow fogs, no tint on headlights/taillights, normal door handles, the spoiler is very similar but not middle pedestals... What else?

Lol, whats with all the butt-hurt feelings? Facts and figures.... the civic is another competitor to the tC... wether its better or not, we'll have to wait for test drives and for the car to actually come to the market before we can compare... Alot of people thought the tC was gonna be this quick little machine with a few boltons take on the srt4 and wrx etc. etc...wrong... but that doesn't mean our car sucks....

In the car world, manf. always try to one-up each0ther, so big ups to honda for trying to outdo us...proves that toyota, with their tC, one-upped them against their previous SI....

that only means that our tC will be upgraded to compete against the competition again... geez...

Think about it, if all manf. were content with what they had... no one would upgrade their cars...and our tc, would still be a celica/supra. 84 stylez.

Whose feelings are hurt? I wasn't saying the Si will necessarily be better - just putting some accurate info out there. Dollar for dollar I like the value of my tC and think it will respond better to mods than the '06 Si. I think the Si will be damn sweet, but so will my tC once I've put a little money into it. Either way, I'm happy with what I have but props to Honda for trying to get it right this time.

I never really got why people hated the civic so much.

Is it the fact that because everybody wanted one for its great reliability, value holding, practical cars and actually somewhat decent looking? People hate it now because it's so common, but you wonder how it actually got so common....

Anyways, no doubt it'll cost more than the tC, but it doesn't mean it is a worse or better car. It's higher priced, but it'll have more power and we do'nt really know about the other details yet.

And actually, if the civic si really is getting a k20A/A2/Z1 motor, then it will probably respond better to mods than the tC, at least....N/A wise.

Don't worry...if Toyota or TRD does not release the supercharger by the end of this year, it WILL once the SI hits showrooms.

I like the look of the new Civic coupes. The EX and SI will both share the same body. I think the way the headlights flow into the front air damn is sweet! However, deciding to buy a tC or Civic coupe is all relative...some prefer a clean and conservative look, while others, an edgier and contemporary look. I believe that's why they're in the same class...to compete with one another. You can't go wrong with either one.

I really dont like the looks of the car. The lines are just horrible imo. The a-pillar blends right into the hood and makes it look like the previous si.
If i had the money and the chioce between tC and Civic... tC.
I've seen the 06 ex in person...its pretty much the same.

i drove a pre-production model si today at the civic live event at monster park in sf. first impression of the looks is pretty bleh. still like the tc more. the tc looks bigger and the overall is +++. the si feels like a toy car/go cart. it accelerates like CRAZY. it's extremely rev happy as expected with the k20. i don't really like the dash. kinda cheap. and i don't like the two tier dash cuz u can either look at the speedo or down at the tach, not both cuz they're so far apart. it handled sharply but the brakes were ultra sensitive (GRABBY). i got interviewed after my second drive which was kinda kool and i talked to one of the spokespersons about pricing n they said base is at 21,500 so thats WAY up there compared to a stock tc. the si was a fun ride BUT i'm still for the tc. the only i like on the si is the fun factor. features and amentities go to the tc as well as trim appearance

omg...the tc has the S/c now great, but im sorry the SI owns the tc all day...inter. ext. and stock performance....car and driver rated 5 cars....reline, cobalt Ss, srt-4, Wrx, RSx-s....i wonder who won...Rsx-s and why? because honda knows what they are doing..its not always about performance its about every aspect of a car.

Umm.. I think I have room to speak, considering I am the 2nd one in the US to have the s/c insalled. The s/c on a stock tC, dynoed at 192whp and 172wtq. This is about 225hp at the crank. I don't know what the ctorque would be. The new si is rated at 197hp (205 going by the old rating system) and 139 ft/lbs.

Lets look at this by the numbers.

s/c tC
225hp/180ish ft/lbs
$20,000

06 si
197hp/139 ft/lbs
LSD
6-speed
>$20,000

LSD means nothing without torque. the spoiler on the si is hideous, the car itself looks like a new accord with downs syndrome. Its just about as heavy as the tC and will cost a bit more than a s/c tC. tC IMO looks a lot better.

the s/c tC pulls very hard on the top end. It feels really good.
