I just placed an order for a 2006 tC: Classic Silver Metallic 5-Speed Manual Fog Lights Mud Guards Car Cover Airbags Scion Security iPod Deck Carpet & Cargo Mat Should be picking it up next week.I was wondering if anyone has seen, or owns a 2006 tC with the Pioneer iPod Deck. I was wondering where the cable for the iPod dock connector comes out to be hooked up. How long is the cable? Also, I was wondering if the deck could handle the entire iPod library and browse songs and playlists, or if it behaved more like the 6-disc CD changer where you can only have 6 playlist (cause that would suck). Also, can you still control the music directly from the iPod, or does the system hijack the controls completely? In any case, I will be enjoying full quality music in my new tC next week!

i don-t own one, but form my guess its like the sentra-s aux connector...comes out right the front....and basing it upon the old headunit, the new one should be able to display artist and album...

I think i read that the ipod hookup for the 2006 tC-s is actually in the center console where our extra dc outlet is. So you-d need more than just the new 06 headunit. If it-s even possible I-d imagine it-s kinda pricey. I-m sure the dealer could do it......but $ signs might appear in your service dpt. manager-s eyes when you ask... lol

I am picking up an 06 TC on thursday and I ordered the IPOD deck. The connector to the IPOD is in the center console. It looks like it hooks into the ipods earphone jack. I am curious if anyone who has this option can give a review on it. If possible tell us if it is worth it to get this accessory (the IPOD HU), how it works from the HU, and even some pictures that show the display of the HU while it is playing an apple IPOD track. Also how easy is it to navigate through the ipod using the HU? I was also curious if the IPOD is automatically shut off when the car is shut off or if you have to shut it or pause it manually on the IPOD itself? If I don-t hear from people on this by thursday then I will post my own review and pics once I pick up the car. Thanks in advance for anyone-s help! The more info the better!

Welll, assuming everything goes according to plan, I-ll be picking up my new tC on Friday. After I get over the initial excitement, I can take a few pictures and write a little review too.

If you have an IPOD and use it in your car then I definitely reccomend this option. First off connecting the ipod. The ipod gets connected via its dock connector to a special cable that comes with the HU. This cable charges the IPOD and also takes over its operation. The wire connects to an IPOD port in the center console. When you hook up your IPOD at home to your computer you cannot play music by using the buttons on the IPOD and on the screen it says OK to disconnect or do not disconnect. Well When you hook up the IPOD to the connecter in your tC you get a message that says SCION on the screen and an OK to disconnect on the screen also. The battery charges while the ipod is connected. Basically you cannot control the IPOD through the IPOD itself once it is connected! The head unit has two rotary knobs on it. The left knob is used for the volume, bass, treble, etc, The right knob is all IPOD!It is fairly intuitive but takes a few minutes to get used to. pushing the knob upwards gives you the menu. It always starts on playlists, and then you can turn the knob to go to artists, albums, songs etc. Push the knob in and you are taken into that option. For example you can rotate the know to Artists, then push it in, then rotate the knob to get to the artist you want, then push it in again, then rotate the knob if you want to select a specific album or when the screen says -all- you can click and get all the songs for that artist. click again and it will start playing the first song in the list or scroll to play a particular song. Push the rotary button the the left or right to go from track to track. Switching to a CD or FM/AM/Sat, and the IPOd Automatically pauses. The text of the song is displayed on the screen, although I am not sure if it scrolls or not (just got this today). The text is large enough to read easily and you can see alot of characters (I will count and post if anyone wants, but you can definitely see enough to tell what you are listening to for sure)Now some of you might say 260 dollars to control my IPOD???!!!??Well I think it is money very well spent. Just remember trying to scroll through your ipod while driving (oops hit that pedestrian again!). I will post pics and also I will report on steering wheel controls as soon as I try those out. HOpe this helps for those of you on the fence about buying this head unit.

Good info!I was SUPPOSED to pick up my tC at the dealer on Friday, but, just my luck, it hadn-t arrived yet. I-m supposed to go in tomorrow (Sunday) to pick it up. The guy at the dealers was talking about putting in all the fluids and fuses before handing me the keys....sounds like i-ll be the one to pop the cherry! 1 mile on the odometer? I can-t wait! I just hope the dealer isn-t going to be pulling my chain for the next month before i actually get my hands on it! I made a playlist on my iPod with a bunch of different types of music with different frequency dynamics to test the tC audio setup. I can-t wait to plug that bad boy in and drive off in my new tC! If someone hasn-t already beat me to it, I-ll post pictures of the deck.

I don-t know if this has been mentioned, but for those curious the iPod jack, along with the mp3 player jack, is located in the storage bin under the arm rest.By the way, couldn-t you just get a regular audio cable and plug it into the iPod-s earphone jack? I don-t own an iPod, so I-m assuming the earphones connect through a normal jack.

Hereis the headunit. The knob on the right is the one used to control the IPOD. I have a picture of the display for track (time and track #), album title, track title, and artist title. Hope this helps.

The whole point of having the iPod deck is so that you can control the iPod through the stereo and steering wheel controls. You COULD plug in the iPod into the AUX port, but you wouldn-t be able to charge the iPod without a seperate charger or control it though the deck and steering wheel controls. Plus, if I-m not mistaken, the signal from the iPod remains digital (as opposed to an anolog signal) until it reaches the Pioneer deck. It probably wouldn-t make THAT much of a difference in sound quality, but it-s still cool!I like the idea of having my iPod tucked away and hidden in the armrest. I can-t wait to get the car that-s attached to this system! But the dealer keeps yanking my chain saying -It sould be in tomorrow!- We-ll see. I-ve waited 3 days past when they said it would first arrive. Let-s see how much longer these @$$ - holes males me wait. Hey, can we get pictures of the armrest and see how the iPod dock connector is set up?

With an MP3 radio in the car I really don-t see the need for an iPod. Yes, maybe you don-t want the hassle of CD-s, but on the downside you know those iPods have a very limited battery life and it-s around $97 to change it.Nonetheless I hope you get your unit soon!

If you-re refferering to the lifespan of the iPod battey, you-re probably right. But Apple just reduced the cost of a replacement battery to $40. And besides, by the time the battery wears out its useful life, Apple has a bigger, better version of the iPod anyways. My 3rd generation still works fine, but I want to get a new color iPod anyways. So the battery-s life is insignificant to me.Changing CDs *IS* a pain in the @$$! Ever since I bought my first iPod (about a week after they were introduced in 2001), I can NEVER go back to switching CDs. If I carried around my CD collection with me, I-d have 532 CDs (according to my iTunes) in my new tC! I-d rather have my iPodBring on the iPod Pioneer Deck! Seamless integration of iPod and tC! I wish the f***in- dealer would call me to come pick up my tC already!

Ok that-s not too bad. I would pay $40. Still, I have most of my music in CDs in mp3 format, so it-s not as bad as when I had a plain CD player. I needed two Caselogics!

I just picked up my tC today. The iPod setup is pretty interesting. You get this little weird cord that has the iPod connector on one end, and some proprietary connector on the other end (almost looks like a stereo wiring harness) that hooks up inside your armrest. The cable is only about a foot long so the iPod pretty much has to stay in the armrest while it-s plugged in. But the Pioneer deck does a pretty good job of browsing through the iPod-s playlist, artist, songs, genres, and albums. The AUX input is right next to the iPod jack for those of you with music players inferior to the iPod.I started taking pictures, but it was too dark to get good, detailed pictures, so I-ll wait until Friday when I have some daylight and spare time to post up pictures.I-d post pictures sooner, but I have 2 finals to take tomorrow I need to study for and take: the last two finals exams I will ever take in undergraduate work!

Is anyone else upset they got rid of the 6-disc changer for an iPOD hookup? I am. I am opposed to anything Apple, and it is just too expensive to buy an iPOD, and then pay to download all the music, etc. Just would not be worth it to me. Well I dont listen to music all that much anyway. I guess if you are rrrrreally into it, then you probably already have one.

I-m not much into Apple, but the iPods are cool as hell. I-ve only d/l one album from iTunes (X&Y) and all the other music I get it from LimeWire. The only reason I don-t have an iPod is because I just don-t see at what point of the day I would actually use it... between classes I only have like 10mins, so it-s pointless.

Yeah, I have a little mp3 player I use when I run, but the iPOD is just not too practical for that...too large and heavy. The only time I would use it is when I run.

Different strokes for different folks. My iPod goes EVERYWHERE with me and I-m always listening to music. Especially in my car. I think the iPod is the best music player in the market. Hands down. It-s a solid little product that interacts well with accessories and...well...tCs! Take a look... The covered ports inside the armrest. The proprietary port for the iPod connection. The AUX input port for those iPod-wannabe players. The proprietary cable I was talking about. The two ends of that cable. One is the iPod dock connector, the other end plugs into the armrest. This is the screen that the iPod shows when it-s plugged in. The iPod is pretty much hijacked by the deck so you can-t control the music from it. I just leave it hidden in the armrest. Who doesn-t love Hotel California? The deck can display either the song title, artist, or album title.I-m disappointed that the iPod can-t be nicely docked and displayed somewhere where it will look cool, but overall, I-m pleased with the system. The steering wheel controls work as advertised and is much easier than reaching over to the deck to change to the next song.On a side note, the tCs stock sound setup sounds better than any other stock stereo I-ve ever heard. Then again, I don-t have much to compare it to.
