The leather boot around my shift knob pulled off along the bottom. That little silver square is intact. Is there an easy way to get it back holding together? Do I need special tools or glue? The special staples that held it came undone.I REALLY want it looking good for the 4th. Any tips? Any pictures of what that area looks like when taken apart? Please help! thanks!!!

sorry bro, but the staples holding the boot to the plastic square are short, replace them with better staples using a staple gun and then bending staples back, but you have to take off the plastic aroung the shifter, by teisting off the shift knob, then pull around the edges of the plactic housing and then it should just come off, carefull with cigarette lighter it is connected in back... hope this helps, sorry no pics but there are some DIY stuff posted here and on SL that can help...

A diagram or some pics would really help. I downloaded a bunch of PDFs of some TC diagrams awhile back but I dont know which one would have the shifter/boot. Im considering hotgluing the thing in place :frown:

I think the understanding I left him with is that it was free. That doesnt do me any good tho if its looking crappy for my 4th party.Im going to try taking the console apart. anyone have pics how to do this?

Yeah, do a search on short shifter installation, and there will bep ictures of removing the console...in terms of removing the boot its 4 clips that slide on the bottom, ez task...If u want my opinon, jus take the whoel console off and drive without it...it may look ugly, but people who see will think ur MODDINg your car, so could care less...And quesoitn, whers your party...you-re obviously advertising...saying its your -4th- and what does it matter? you-re going to be drunk no? who will see?
