Hey ya-ll! I-m new to the website and the entire scion family so bare with me please! I just ordered my 06- scion TC and it should be in next saturday...I desperately want to drop it so I had one of my guy friends who is into all of that stuff tell me what I should do. He said my best bet was to go with the Tein S-Tech springs. I-ve never done anything to my car before..i previously owned a Lexus RX300...so this is the first time and i-m worried that they are going to mess up my car! My friend said he would install them..but I heard something about having to get your alignment fixed after you install the springs? Can someone please help me out and let me know the entire process of getting the springs installed and afterwards maintenance? Also..i-ve been reading on some other posts something about 20,000 miles with these springs? What does that mean? Thanks for all your help!!!!

well first off, how much of a drop are you looking for? the s-techs are good. they have the most aggressive drop for the tC right now. i have them and they ride incredibly smooth. its true that you need an alignment after you install your springs, but its better if you wait until your springs settle in more, im waiting for 2 weeks. the post about the 20,000 miles is probably recommending you to get shocks after driving that many miles.all you have to do if you want to get springs is just order them from online, if your friend can install them, then let him, most shops out there will rape you with the cost of install, then drive around for a couple of days and get an alignment. youd be pretty much set.

Get H&R Sport...just a slight lower than TRD...and just a slight higher than S-Tech...S-Tech SLAMs the car...H&R is the way to go...when u hit 30k...get new shocks if you want...

I havent seen a better drop then the s techs they just look amazing. No they wont hurt your car and yes you will need an alignment. Welcome to the tC family!

with the s-techs are their any butterflying or scraping? I want a nice drop but i don-t want to have to purchase a camber kit.. I was thinking of going for the h-techs cuz of their modest drop.. but i wish there were pics comparing the h-tech to the s-tech.. oh yea while i was searching for a set of springs i found these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaym...7980864257&rd=1If anyone has any info on the megan springs it-d help alot.. but for the price i-m sorta questioning their quality

megan makes ok products but I wouldnt trust them for springs, the s-techs dont require a camber kit. The camber falls within factory pecs. As far as scraping goes, as long as you know how to drive a lowered car you will be fine.

I just ordered my teins, I went with the s-techs cuz the h-techs didn-t offer the drop i was looking for, i should be alright. my civic before was dropped 2.5 but they settled down to 2.8 all around all i-m worried about is the camber.. shops really try to rape me with the alignment price when they find out it-s -lowered- anyone else get this?

sometimes the swing arm lifts cannot go under some dropped cars because they are too low and its a pain in the ass for them to setup-at least that is what I-ve heard

I ordered some S techs also. If you put them both on let me know how they ride (S techs and 19s). I plan on geting some 19s too but im not a big fan of rubbing at all.

The overall diameter of the 19- wheel with tire will be the same as the stocks with tires because the side wall of the tires makes up the difference of the larger wheel. For instance a the stock wheels come with 45 series tire the RS that has the 18-s has a 40 series and a 19 will need a 35 series tire. Granted depending on the width of the tire that will change the sidewall because the sidewall is based on the width of the tire. So my point is if you dont rub with the stock wheels and tires then if you upgrade properly to a 19 you wont rub either.

what struts do you recommend to go with S techs?

I have a WRX wagon if it snows too much so its not a concern and I have driven a car as low as this in 6- of snow with no prob. As for struts I am not happy with any of them out right now. The TRDs are adjustable and the Koni-s are adjustable but they arent a direct replacement there is a bunch of BS you have to do to them before you install them. I would wait and see what else comes out. Tokico says they arent gonna make any but with the popularity of the tC I think they will and others such as KYB might as well we will have to see. For now the stocks will work.

Won-t you blow your stock struts if they are kept on the car?! That-s what I heard from multiple posts....
