Sorry but, the easy way is to:A: Unscrew the shift knob.B: Lift off the shift console, no need to unplug anything, you-ll just be in there a minute.C: Pull out the upper console. reach down behind the back of the cubby, grab the socket, twist and pull. It comes out of the cubby, then pull the bulb out of the socket, kida like a Christmas tree light bulb. Replace the socket.Replace the upper console.Replace the shift console.Twist the shift knob back on.Time 2 minutes 34 seconds. Seriously is is pretty easy, just a little scary the first time you rip up a console. Warning: Always cover the tip of the stick shift when the knob is off. It can and will scratch the F.... out of the silver trim pieces.

Lots of thanks to TChillin, bad a$$ directions on how to get to that cubbie easy. I just changed all my bulbs and it looks so good now. By the way, someone said something in another thread bout using a credit card to help pry up the center console. It is the most useful tool ever for the scion tC.
