Ive been trying my hardest to save up for a tc but my bf will working out of town so i bought a 5 spd 1993 bmw 325i for $3000. Well my dad is teaching me how to drive it and i have everything down but the taking off part. My friends tells me it should be so hard cause the car should pull it self but my car barely pulls and the gears isnt that smooth to shift. My question is the tc easier to drive? I plan on trading my car in for a tc im just trying to figure out if i should get a manual or auto. |

Once you get over the tiny quirks with the tCs throttle system, I think it's actually easier to drive than most other manual cars. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Thread Killah |

Hmm... I think learning to drive manual is worth it, you should get the manual! |

Taking off and quick stops without stalling is the hardest part - you'll get it down quick. Manual is always worth it if you won't be spending the majority of your drive in stop/go traffic. I finally got a stick after a year or so of automatics, I missed it! Orlando Fl |

If you are a girl i would reccomend getting an auto. You can't do you hair and *make-up very well while driving a manual! *Edit* I meant hair and make-up |

It encourages you to pay attention to your driving as well.. You wouldn't wanna sideswipe a sexy black tC cuz you were to busy talking on the phone+doing your makeup+drinking a soda+chatting with your gf sitting in the passenger's seat. :frown: Having to shift gears cuts down those things by at least half.. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Thread Killah |

Honestly, compared to almost every other car with a manual trans I have driven, the clutch on the TC is definitely my least favorite. I wouldn't own an auto TC though. Being able to run up through the gears is really the only thing that makes this car fun. |

I agree with this. I do not think the tC was anywhere near the easiest manual I have driven. I am not saying it is hard, but I am very experienced with driving manual vehicles. I have owned atleast 8 different manuals, and I drive 16 speed trucks all the time where driving can be dang near impossible!!! I dont think the tC is the worse car I have driven as far as stick. And compared to many, or any, older cars, it should be easier for you. The clutch on the tC engages oddly and the stock shifter has a crappy feeling, unless you have a Short throw and the bushings changed. Then its not to bad, but compared to my Porsche, the trows are way to long. |

honestly though if you have never drivin a stick, the little quirks that everyone is talking about is not that bad. you wont even know the difference. as far as being easy, its very smooth and deff a lot easier than that beemer. ive driven so many different cars that are manual and the tc is up there with ease of driving. as far as a nice short smooth shifting feel. it blows hard cock haha! Yeah, a short shifter made a huge difference. I have the Doc I with new bushings and a weighted knob. The actual shifting part is now enjoyable. However, the clutch doesn't have a real positive feel during engagement, and is just different, like you said. Still, stick is the only way to own a TC, but the longer I own it, the more I crave something that is more responsive and sportier. Sucks I am tied to this car for so long. |

I tacked the TRD short throw and clutch onto my car when I bought it, so I can't tell you how the stock one feels. But like many others, I've only driven manual vehicles. I wouldn't have it any other way either. Driving manual IMO, allows you to feel the car more and control the power better. The only problem I had with the tC compared to other vehicles, is that because I tacked on the performance clutch, it required a bit more force to push. The first month or so after getting the car, when sitting at a stop, my left quad would shake because it was taking so much force to keep down. |

i think a manual car is the way to go!! yeah it would way easier for u to get da hang off compared to ur car now jus for da simply fact dat the tc is gonna be a newer car!! wen learning to drive stick on a older car its more tuff but lil by lil u get da gears down but not as good as if u was to learn brand new of a new car!!...the gear ratio is different from da bimmer to a tc but once u get da hang of a stick car in general u will know wat to do and how to feel ur clutch more wen u get ur new tc!!...i say learn more on ur bimmer nd den test drive da tc in manual nd see how it handles nd if u like da feel for it!! dats da only way u can really tell if u should do it!! jus my 2cents but good luck! ![]() BEER IS CHEAPER THAN GASOLINE NOW...SO DONT DRIVE...DRINK!! Boys aren't the only 1's who can have fun!! ;P ~Shiftin Shortiez Auto Club~ |
