Has anyone noticed a drop in MPG when converting to a large rim? I am mostly interested in the 19 inch wheel guys, but welcome other sizes.

If this is a major concern I would watch to things.1) Stay as close to OE overall diameter as possible when choosing tires. This will maitain the original Revolutions Per Mile (RPM) Keeping your speedo acurate. A smaller diameter tire will have higher RPM to obtain the same speed therefore use more fuel and throwing your speedo off!2) Watch the weight of the wheels you choose. Obviously a heavier wheel will take more to turn. With this theory in mind you could actually better your mileage with an extreamly light racing wheel. If your lookin at 19- I would go with 215/35R19 tires and a light weight 19x7.5 with a +40mm to +42mm offset. Should not affect mileage, just a little bit of the ride comfort and handling.

I am already getting axis Hiro 19x8.5 riding on 225/35/19, which works a lot better than the 215 from experience with other tCs. I just wanted to know if anyone noted a change. Also 35mm offset is much better flush fit with the wheel well and still fits without rubbing under the Tien S springs with 2.5/2.4 drop.

There you go those are probably hella light by comparison. You don-t think your gonna rub with that setup? Especially with that amount of drop your talking about........ Do you have a wide body kit? I am sittin on 20x7.5 +42 on 225/30R20 wraps with the 1.2- Eibach Pro-Kit. No rubbing what so ever, however not far from doing so. I can probably do a 1.8- drop on her without rubbing but that-s about it unless I start rolling fenders or going wide body. This is why I would love to see yours when you are done! Plus I am a wholesaler and need to know these custom fitments work, without rubbing that is! Thanks

Greddo I was in aftermarket rim and tire sales for 3 year before my current job. Good money by the way and nice discounts I would love to be back in the job if the money was better. As for the fitment I have seen the axis wheel fit under the tein s drop before with some of the other forum members. I test drove the dealer demo car with tein s with TSW 19x8 with 35mm offset riding on 225/35/19. With my math and measurement of the wheel wells it should fit with out much issue with the 225/35/19. There was noted some issue with rubbing by one forum member on a driver side. But he was running 9.5 in the rear so that may be the issue where I am only running 8.5.Also I have seen the setup of forum member BigKid which uses a different style of axis but same diameter, width, and offset. He is even using a 9.5 in there rear. Check the link http://www.clubsciontc.co...=viewtopic&t=3176

even though i dont have a Tc yet, I got some new rims a month ago for my camry, I went with some 17-s and some wide ass tires, 235/45-sI did notice that my MPG seemed like it went down.. but then again i did drive a little harder. but the point is that rims first off could actually weigh more than older or stock wheels/rims and have more rotating mass so tourqe i think is less, i think when i acel it feels like its sluggish.. or slower than before. now the newer tire/rim size could actually be bigger around than the older setup so it can cover more area for the same 360* rotation. I still havent gotten a true clear answer either but it shouldnt change too much. It may read a lower mpg which is what i got when i changed to my new rims.. i guess the best people to ask is a car mech.. or a math teacher.. ?..

yes larger tires have more friction on the ground, and with that increases handling, but it takes more energy to keep them going.. plus larger tires do weigh more.. even if the wheels are the same weight as the original wheels, it has a larger mass.. so more turns are required to get it going.. i would estimate a 2-3 mpg loss at the most..

Just an update with the 19s I am getting about 28mpg from my 31.5 average before so there is a decrease from what I can tell. I think it is worth it.

Any increase in unsprung weight will definitely cause a decrease in MPG. I think that is the case with rsworkstc, since is as the correct upsize wheel and tire set, that there is no difference in revolutions from stock

mY bAd... Haven't been online in while...

Do they make them YES. I have them on my car. They are the same as the TRD springs. Any retail shop should be able to get them for you. They make a Pro-Kit 1.2" F+R part# 8284.140 and they are about to release a Sportline 1.8" drop F+R any day now and that part number is 4.8482
