Hey, i have an Auto 09 TC, I'm wondering about using the shift stick to control my speed when i'm trying to race someone. I know that i should had got a manual instead of a tc if i wanted to race, but i couldn't because some of my family members can't drive a manual and they also use my car sometime.

So i wanted to know, at a stop light, i shift my gear to L (first gear), than to 2 at 25mph and than 3 at 45mph, would this make my car go any faster than instead of having it at D. Also would this ruin my engine or transition gears?

Yes it will ruin your tansmission. No don't do it, it won't help. Those gears aren't for shifting to race or go faster. Use search next time, it's been discussed before.

It's been discussed here like crazy.

Leave it in D. It doesn't affect your shifting at all. I've ran 1/4 miles doing that and leaving it in D and ran the same exact time (well, .02 seconds slower manually shifting actually).

The transmission ecu will automatically adjust the pressures inside. Do NOT shift it manually, it'll screw up the calculations AND your transmission fast.

.... you're kidding right? it will make a difference.. it will wear down components even quicker because of all that unnecessary shifting..
yes, UNNECESSARY.

Leave it in D

you wanna do it? fine.. that's your own fault if something happens.. just don't crawl back and whine about it cause it'll fall on deaf ears.

After reading this, it def looks like a bad idea, i know what you are talking about (I have done it in my car) but it raises another question. The TC is not a car that is meant to haul something behind it... if it does damage to the car, wh have those gears there? I mean honestly I can understand L but what would you possibly use 2 and 3 for?

Understanding it's not always meant to haul something. In any case, the only time you would drop to 2 or 3 is if you were stuck going up hill, and need higher RPM's.I don't see any other reason...

I did this all the time in my 06 but thats somewhat of the reason i got rid of it cuz the tranny was making whining noises really bad in the mornings. So i stopped doing it for a week and the noises weren't as bad but i bet if i kept the car it would have been costly at some point. I know how you feel but a Auto is a Automatic. Only use D, R and P. All that other L, 2, and 3 is not meant for the tC. The only reason i ever used mine when i first got it cuz i was stupid. The people told me it was a slap stick so i was like shizzing right lol ... But now i own a Manual 09. Hope this helps.

It's not meant to haul anything. You use that for engine braking for hills.

and that mostly means going downhill.

going uphill, it was best to leave it in D as well.

the way the gears have it where the 3 is right there, is to get a small extra boost on highways or passing.. that's really it.. click to one side.. and click right back..

fyi, the owner's manual talks about all that's been mentioned above...
