It wouldnt be to terribly hard to remove the old. Just start pulling, use a razorblade scraper if need be. Autozone has an awesome one!!! It has a red handle and a replaceable razor on the end. I used it to peel off a parking complex sticker that was on the inside of my window near the dash, VERY SMALL SPACE. And it worked great.

Then go to pep boys/autozone/etc and get some carpet. $9.00 a roll!! Buy some spray adhesive (kinda pricey) and apply it. I have a thread on how to do it, look for my MDF build thread.

Oh and spray paint would be a bad bad idea. Crapet is flexible and moves, paint is hard and doesnt. Stuff the flexes with paint on it flakes off.

I was just at JoAnne's fabric store this weekend and they have a fabric paint! It comes in a few different colors. I am going to try it out on my headliner once I can figure out how to take it off. And it's suppose to be permanent and it's cheap. Try using that

yeah if u spraypainted it it would clump, and flake off, which would be more trouble than just cutting it off, like nick said, just get a razor blade and have at it

Dude, have all the carpet taken off, and rhino line that shit. You know, the spray on bedliner stuff. Indestructible sub box with a perfect seal and no flex!

that rhino line is prolly expensive right, and wont it make it maddd heavy... and why not just spray it with a 9 dollar paint made for it rather than going through a whole hassle of reupholstering.. maybe ill just try it on the botttom ofthe box and see how it comes out before i do the whole thing

Yeah, it would make the box heavy. If you have a sub box and some subs in there, why do you care about weight anyway. My car dont feel any slower because I have subs, and I dont take it to the track, so lets make my car heavy as hell, but sound gooooood.

There is a paint you can get at autozone that is for interiors and carpeting and stuff. If it is shaggy carpet it will be alittle harder than it was before but I didnt have any trouble with it flaking. Typical sub box carpet isnt that long so I think you shsould be able to paint it and not have any trouble. I also used a soft bristled brush to get it alittle smoother. But it will still be alittle rough no matter what. Hope that helps
