i have looked at those and they seem to be the best option i just found this one interesting since i hadnt come across it in the forums searching. i also like that shift knob it comes with for the craven shifter lol but i just bought a momo raptor knob so i guess i would have to sell one of them

i havent heard of it, but i recently bought a megan short throw shifter and am very pleased with it. the install wasnt too bad either, just getting that clip off the right side of the shifter cage is a PITA unless you use a dremel, then it is a breeze. for $65.00 shipped you cant go wrong with the megan.

what other tools besides a dremel would u suggest? never messed with installing a short shifter but the megan had the best price from what i could see and the purple bushings are pretty even though you wont ever see them lol

I have Doc I. It's awesome. I used a hack saw instead of a dremmel .... took the clip right off!

here is a link to the install, it is a great DIY!!!

http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36452

off the top of my head tools required were:

15mm socket, with extension (used to remove two bolts from inside console area)
phillips screwdriver, couple of flat head screwdrivers to assist when prying the plastic housing up
grease
dremel (makes it easy to remove clip) or hacksaw, or anything else you can think of, lol
hammer

this job shouldnt take more than an hour if everything goes smooth, which it did for me.

cool thanks. how is the feel of the shifter compared to stock? also do you think the 1.5" drop in height will make a big difference because i ordered a cusom shift and ebrake boot from redlinegoods and i ordered it with 1" extra in leght of material because i like the loose look of a shift boot

imho it feels way better than stock. the reduced height is the first thing you visually notice, that in itself is worth the $65.00 to me.

mechanically the throws are shorter, and i think it feels better too. i think since you have less leverage, the effort to make the throw is a little more than that of a stock shifter, but the shifts are much quicker. (please dont flame if my physics aren't correct).

as far as your new shift boot, in the DIY he shows a way to invert the boot, lower the clip and kind of tuck away excess shift boot material. i did that and am pleased with it. you should be able to do the same with yours. i'll have to post a pic of mine later tonight if i remember to snap a shot.

that makes sense, as long as the engagement feels firm i dont mind the shifts being a little harder. i think its mostly because since its shorter in height you have less leverage which is what makes it easy stock. but id rather have that firm feel. apologies for being dumb again but what kind of grease do i use? lol

It's not actually a harder shift .... maybe slightly .... it forces you to be more accurate in the H pattern .... if you're right on, it goes in like butter. A weighted shift knob lessens the tougher feel.

ahhh ok well i doubt the momo raptor knob i won on ebay yesterday is weighted lol probably lighter than the stock one from scion. but i guess with over 96000 miles of shifting in my tc im pretty accurate

I wouldn't be so sure .... a buddy of mine has the F16 from Momo and it's weighted .... so is the OBX that I got a few days ago .... not much, but heavier than the stock rubber and plastic one.
