Don't go BBK. If you think your brakes feel crappy, try re-bleeding the lines. My brakes feel fkn awesome. BBK's are useless unless you're doing primarily track racing. A lot of your braking is in the tires. ![]() Scikotics NJ is sponsored by Lawrence Scion 2006 GReddy Turbocharged Automatic tC 220+ WHP - 14.044 @ 97.02 MPH |

if i do order a stage 2 kit, is it hard to a DYI? and what's the difference between slotted and drilled? |

I'm with Nick on the BBK. If you can lock up the wheels and have anti-lock kick in, BBK won't make more braking force, just less pedal travel. Better grip in the tires is key. When you have enough grip, you might not be able to lock up the wheels ..... this is where the BBK works. Drilled rotors have holes in them. The holes were originally to relieve gases released by the brake pads a while ago. New pads don't make that gas cushion. Brembo blanks are also less prone to warpage due to the holes being cast into the metal prior to finish machining. The holes allow the rotors to cool faster because inertia forces the air out of the vents in the edge of the rotor causing fresh air to be sucked into the holes. Slotted rotors have slots machined into the braking surface. The slots scrape the surface of the pads to reduce glazing and get a better bite when braking. Slots will show better performance than drilled at the cost of some noise. |

EBC dimpled/slotted rotors with EBC redstuff pads here almost 100% highway driving as well so keep that in mind with the temperature ranges you see/need for pads. If you do more city driving, a ceramic or high temperature pad will make your brakes SQUEAL. A softer pad is better for city driving and maybe a carbon metallic pad is what you should look into. Denser pads (higher heat ranges and denser, more resilient materials) will last a bit longer, can withstand faster/harder braking, and withstand fading much better. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |

i dont do much racing. alot of city driving and occasionally like to get a little speed going, but nothing serious. my brakes somehow became very bad after i let my friend drive my car for a day.....(stupid i know) i went to go get it checked up and the guy said nothing was wrong with it, but i can feel the difference. i have to push the brake ALL the way down to get a complete stop. i figured changing everything from the rotors to the brake pads would fix the problem. |

I think you probably just need to bleed them, but for city driving, I'd go with Greenstuff pads or Brembo, although the Brembos dust a lot. Hawk HPS is a touch softer than Redstuff, so I thnk they'd be good too. I haven't had nor seen any problems with Redstuff or HPS pads. |

Redstuff have been great for me but I do opposite driving from what the OP does. Greenstuff brakes are ok but stick with a blank rotor if you use them. They really "sing" if you have slotted/drilled rotors. I had them on with slotted/drilled rotors for about 8 months then said F that and upgraded to my current set. I would sacrifice wheel aesthetics and get a flat rotor with a softer pad that won't squeal as much, but may produce a bit of dust. Axxis pads have been spoken about as well as Hawk pads. Try to stick to their "street" pads rather than race quality pads. DOT 4 fluid and/or steel brake lines will help the spongy pedal feel. As stated, you should flush/bleed them. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |

I say go with the Axxis Ultimates. They ARE a ceramic pad and will tend to squeal some (mine were but stopped), but they have exceptional bite... though - I do race more than most. ![]() Scikotics NJ is sponsored by Lawrence Scion 2006 GReddy Turbocharged Automatic tC 220+ WHP - 14.044 @ 97.02 MPH |

I am not a big fan of Axxis Ultimates - mine have dusted like crazy since day one and, I am not racing, just daily driving... I am going to the "red stuff" as soon as the Axxis are gone. Just my 2 cents worth... |

That's true. My ultimates kick out a lot of dust. Axxis Deluxe Plus are oem low-dust replacements. I like the added bite of the ultimates, personally. ![]() Scikotics NJ is sponsored by Lawrence Scion 2006 GReddy Turbocharged Automatic tC 220+ WHP - 14.044 @ 97.02 MPH |

agreed on the bite - I like that a lot! But I am so over the dust and what it does to my wheels - not to mention my manicure! <hey - I gotta be a girl sometimes! |

Hawk HPS are very comparable to Ultimates and don't dust much. Red's are a bit harder. |

You either have 1 of these or both....there's NO pad/rotor combo that will give you NO noise and NO dust. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |

okay i gotcha guys. i appreciate the feedback and advice. i think imma just go with the brembo OEM's and re-bleed the lines since i dont really do much racing. any particular brake fluid that i should look into? |
