How are you guys running your power wire? I plan on using a 4 gauge and I haven-t seen anyone really running anything that large.

I currentley run a JL Audio 12w3 in a sealed enclosure, powered by an Audiobahn 8000t amplifier. Running 4 gauge power wiring, no distortion (of course, its monster) and its not that bad. Its pretty thick but u can get it running under the seats under the carpet thru the center...no problem...

Looks neat till after about 3 months your door wears the wire thin, then it grabs bare metal, arcs. blows the fuse and possibly the amp.not to mention the people who do the famous - door jam - install with no fuse.... talk about a hazard=)stick to running it through the firewall. there-s a few DIY guides that give you ideas where to goand if you-re still that unsure. pay 60 bucks and let someone do it at a shop. then no responsibilities lie on you.

lol..... I am fully capable to do this myself. Here is what I have in my Galant: 142dB Sealed SQ set up. Click Here for more pictures.I am going to do a simliar SQ set up with the wife-s tC but going to use two Elemental 9kv.2. Not sure if I am going to vent or stick with a sealed box this time though.I would never go through the door jam because that would be asking for it. Some cars are set up where you can go through the fender and access the cabin without going through the door jam. Drilling through the firewall is what I like to do but just trying to get an idea on where it is safe to drill. I-ll try looking for that DIY as you suggest but when I did a search I didn-t come up with anything....

If you run the wire under the door jams there are extra clips for power wire. I have 4 gauge and it fit fine, the best place to go through the firewall I found was on the passenger side behind the glovebox.

I just finished running 4 gauge and it was a bitch to get it through the firewall on the passengers side. I had to take out the glove box to help me see what was going on. The passenger side firewall has better access than the drivers side. There isnt much space at all to fit your hands to grab and pull the wire though. I have the release series 1.0 so the the front strut bar didnt help make it any easier to try to feed the wire in from the engine bay. I Tore up my hands real good too trying to fit them between the heater thing and the firewall. It would make it a tone asier to ahve another person helping you. Running the wire to the back was easier than I thought it would be. Under the door sill there is plenty of room.

I ran a 2 ga wire very easily through the factory grommet. Running wires through the door jam is quite ghetto.Drop the glove box and the ECM and you can get to the grommet easily.

there is a gromet on the driver side that is great, it is a little hard to work with at first but in the end works awesome, i used it then ran the wire over to the side of the car and then under carpet and under braces for bottom of car, sorry no pic's but it is right in front of you when you look in the bay
