Well ive decided to get the jl audio 10w6's at 600w rms a piece.. two of them in my trunk, and i just want to know if the can hit harder, handle much more watts, and have more potientioal than my 2 memphis 12's at 250w rms that i have now and dont think there all that.. ( basically i need to know if these 10's are a big step up from my somewhat cruddy 12's) thanks

Yes, the 10s will hit much harder and be a tighter, punchier bass. You are comparing subs in 2 different categories though.

good choice on w6's, just put them in a nice vented box so you can hit the lows really loudly.

I prefer sealed .... something about getting the sound from your nice expensive new sub versus getting bass from a cheap piece of PVC ..... also, I prefer a tight hit and true frequency response over a loud, deep, but small dynamic range buzz that loosens up the chasis and suspension of the car.

It all depends on what you like .... my $0.02

^^I gotta agree with you. I'm a big fan of sealed boxes. Although I listen to a lot of hiphop and enjoy the deep bass, I also listen to a lot of punk music, and responsiveness means a lot to me. It really depends on what you listen to as to how you should set up the box. Ported is going to be louder but its not as clean as a sealed box. If you're not competing then I say quality over quantity.

This isnt the way subs work. Peak power isnt every thing when it comes to subs.

The W7s will sound ALOT better than the W6s.

Only issue with them is, they are much heavier, more expensive, need a much larger box, and are a tad slower.
But sound quality and overall loudness will be extremely better.
