So i'm an impulsive shopper [lol], and I've been researching bearded dragons for a couple days and I thought what the heck, let me go buy one, so I did. ;]

I'd estimate he/she is about 6-8 weeks old. Its currently about 3" in length. If you dont know about bearded dragons, they can grow to be up to 24" long. Its still too early to determine the sex, but I'm hoping for a girl, even though I get this feeling its a boy, lol.

For the meantime i'm calling it Beardie, LOL.

-dont mind the green finger, LMAO, my favorite ring does that ;(

shedding [1 month later]

u have one too?? awesome! take some pixs and show me your beardie!

Beardie is already shedding, I picked up a couple pieces in the tank today. It hasnt eaten today all day. but yesterday it had about 6 crickets. its been sleeping all day! I took it out and had it on my shoulder for a little, spayed him with some water. he's starting to get his little attitude, i can already tell, lol.

her name is Cali, she about a year old. when i got her i kept her in a 20L tank but i custom built her a 4'X 2' X 2' as soon as she reached about a 10"

she's so lazy all she does is sleep in her hammock all day.lol

nah its kool i love beardies.haha.
Materials:
you can use melamine or plywood. if you use plywood i'd recommend a water-based sealant. rough slate tiles for substrate will help keeping your beardies claws scratching you.

Lighting:
I've got a 48" UV tube. the coil ones-10% can be dangerous but if you have one dont be too worried just buy an 8% uv one until you decide to build your new one.

Heating:
for my 4FT using 2 100w heat bulbs i can keep my hot side temps at 102(at the floor) and 109(at the highest perch)and my cool side is at 72.
Edit: for the heat if you ever have a burned out bulb a regular 100W house bulb will work fine as well AND i just saw your pics off my ipod your beardie looks like mine when she was little lol

its not mine but its similar lol. i used plywood instead of melamine becuase of cost. but melamine is easier becuase theres no need for a sealant.
