I'm looking at getting the f900bt (pioneer) installed.
http://www.amazon.com/Pio...qid=1220475616&sr=8-1

Heard any pros? cons? About it?

I currently have a 08' stock unit in, that allows me to change songs from the steering wheel. If I get this new unit installed. could I still flip the stereo modes (ipod, radio, cd) and change songs, and volume like i can now?

the sterring wheel controls is my biggest thing now too. i have spoiled myself rotten with the wheel controls that i hate driveing a vehicle that doesnt have it. but there is a device of some sort that u can get in the range of $40-$50 that will still let u have this function with an aftermarket HU. talk to blitzin she knows wich one it is

Whoa whoa.... Static thats a bad install, however you will loose your steering wheel control. But seriously I'd give that up compared to a nice aftermarket head unit.

Yeah, I'll die before I part with the controls...it makes my driving life more simple. I really just wanted the new unit for the navigation, dvd, and blue-tooth compatibility. I just hate the stick to window suction GSP..ever time i hit a bump at 60+, It falls...I'll probably just do without the new unit...save a few hundred bucks and buy a good gps system/with bluetooth....and i dont need to watch the lasted netflix in my car.

Thanks everyone

PAC SWI works great with aftermarket deck to allow you to keep the steering wheel controls working.

Don't do it!!!! I was about to order the very same headunit, until I heard about nearly every owner having several problems with it. I talked to a woman from crutchfield.com, she said everyone who ordered it sent it right back. There's been updates I'm sure, but I still wouldn't buy one.

i haven't seen any problems from friends who own them..

you can spend the extra $40 or so for the PAC-SWI to save your steering wheel controls. you'll get like a half second more lag for the signal to come thru the adapter.. but it works.

Well I don't know from personal experience, but I've read alot of reviews on this product and they didn't seem too good at all. Just thought it shouldn't go unmentioned...

^^Yeah, the first shipments had some bugs, but everything sold since the beginning of August has been fine. Pioneer also fixed all the early models. This unit is top notch for multi media.

If the update actually did fix all of the problems, then I'm sure it's a great product...still, Pioneer said the long bootup time and lag is normal and not so much a "problem" because it takes that long to load for the gps and whatnot, which some may not see as a problem, but still enough to make me go for the Kenwood.

Yeah there is no way to avoid the boot up problems. The system runs off Windows CE. However Pioneer fixed it so its only a 20 to 30 second max boot up time.

ive installed a couple of these and they are slow as hell. if u dont mind the long boot up time and the lag when u try to push something then its a good deck. lol. and putting a back up cam is pointless by the time ur done backing up the deck still hasnt loading properly.

sorry if this sounds angry but im tired of putting these in and a week later taking them out of peoples cars. save urself the headache and get a kenwood.
