DIY/Request/Review Sugestion

I've been going through the site today doing some clean up, and one thing I noticed was that the DIY section is really hard to find stuff in and is somewhat cluttered. Even after cleaning up the stickies, its still kind of a mess.

I was thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to expand the forum in the new 3.0 site. Basically have a couple different DIY subforums to seperate the Requests from the DIY guides and also to break up the guides to keep them a little more organized. Maybe I'm just being anal but figured it was worth throwing out there to see what everyone thinks.

New Poll Section Suggestion

The second suggestion I wanted to get some opions on was a poll section. Basically users could create polls, go in to see results, vote on one they missed earlier, etc... I thought this might help with some of the repetitive questions (which intake/exhaust should I get) because you'll be able to go in and see the breakdown of what people have voted on. Even beyond that it would allow us to have a group voice that would be easy for members to access. Whaddaya think?

Cant we just have all the requests that have been filled deleted? I see requests for DIYs that already exist.

The SEARCH feature on the site works, I promise. USE IT!!!

I understand that it might be an issue trying to stop future requested DIYs for threads we already have, but with a little time and effort, it shouldnt take much to clear out whats already been done to clean that section up a bit. Correct me if Im wrong.

Idk if you have seen how scionlife does their DIY's but they are pretty well organized there.

Yeah, I've seen their tech section, and even that is still just a list in a fancy frame. Its basically a huge section of stickies put in alphabetical order. I do like that they open in a separate window.

I was thinking about having a Request section, and then breaking up the DIY's to have a section for regular maintenance guides, performance installs, and cosmetic/custom installs. Or something along those lines.

I would definitely like to see the DIY section cleaned up. I would like to see separate sections for interior, exterior, engine, etc., etc. You could combine the request for DIYs with these separate forums and it would cut down on them, making existing DIYs easier to find.

I'm getting an idea so ingenious that my head would explode if even began to know what I was talking about....
