Help with making a logo please!

 I kinda suck at Photoshop so i was woundering if any one could help me out. I am one of the owners for BSV motorsports along with 2 of my brothers. i want to get a nice logo made so i can have it ingraved into a plexy glass. i also wanna make a few decals. it dosnt have to be a tC since we consist of different types of cars. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance

 I think I caught a bad case of that myself when I found out I need to get new tires this afternoon. I'd suggest coming up with some suggestions at least towards a theme or concept for the logo and then let some of the photoshop headz see what they can come up with.

 i wanna have maybe a nice car design in the back and then have it say BSV Motorsports on top of it but i want the font on the letters to be real nice not sure what type tho. it could maybe be an outline of a tC in the backround or something like that. the 3 main car are a charger a 08 altima and my tC so maybe something with all 3 mixed in black and white

 If you wana make a nice logo you should use illustrator. Vector images are better when it comes to printing logo design. You know what im talkin bout? Photoshop uses pixels and Illustrator uses points. But i could help you with anything as far as photoshop goes.

well said. a succesful logo is made to be read quickly. in a world of 'go-go-go' we want/need stuff quickly. most succesful logos are very simple and communicate the message without the need for words....this of course is done over time through branding, which in time allows you to slowly eliminate the words that surround the logos.

to understand what i mean take a look at Targets logo, they no longer use the word 'target' next to it, their bullseye logo is so powerful, that is all they need. nike, mcdonalds are another good example of this.... the list goes on and on.

when creating logos, depending on its usage, you want to use a vector based program such as illustrator (freehand is outdated). think of all the places the logo will be used, letterhead, business cards, envelopes, fax cover sheets, etc... you will want the logo to work in one color as well. photoshop is a pixel based program (as mentioned above) and typically is not used to make logos.

no offense to the girl who posted her logo up above, but that thing is very hard to read and doesn't communicate anything to me, a general viewer. take my crit with a grain of salt. (i've been doing print and web design for the last nine years).

i'd offer my services, but being that the OP is tight on funds, i'm gonna pass. my days of doing freebies are long gone. good luck with the new company though.
