So... I'm taking out the tC for my first drive tomorrow (minus the drive home from the dealership which was 4 miles). I have a variety of emotions running through me right now... Nervous and Scared? Check. Excited? Check. Joy, dread, etc... you name it and it's happening. Is this what usually happens with new cars? I've never been so terrified of taking a car out into the wild. I'm gonna bring a microfiber and quick detailer in case I get shat on by birds and stuff. I'll probably fork over $8 a day to park in a lot. Damn.. that's expensive. Anything for my tC though.

The first couple days I was more worried about other people hitting me. Also couple days after rolling my car, I was a little shaken up at times but its all good now.

who double posted? did i? if so... my bad.

maybe i'll grow a pair and go show off my new car tomorrow. street parking terrifies me around here at UCLA. drunken idiots on a late night will ruin cars routinely. this wasn't a problem when i drove a kia cuz... well, it's a kia.

lol, the first month I had mine, I almost got sideswiped twice. They were both really close, and I was very nervous for 2 weeks or so after that. I'm sure you'll get over it though. Enjoy the tC, it's an awesome car... and welcome to the club!

I was freaked the hell out when I bought mine because I had to drive it 2 hours home through traffic in downtown Houston. I still worry about it, but I have learned to enjoy the hell out of my car too. Enjoy it, love it, and respect it, you will do fine.

I was extremely nervous my first day with the tC because I was also lost in Salt Lake City. A lot of things happened within the first week of driving my car, bad luck?

1) Big truck threw rock at the rear side window edge, chipping away small piece of paint.

2) Cat got de-clawed earlier that morning, picked him up from the hospital and he threw up on me in the car. wasn't his fault though... =/

3) Wind caught the passenger side door and threw it into metal fence, chip paint and tiny dent.

4) A rock or something blew out left fog light plastic piece on the highway. I just heard a loud crack, and I pulled over and the piece was gone.

5) Girlfriend let her Sonic drink tip over on the floor, out of the cardboard cup holder.

Months later:

1) Friends allow leftovers from B-Dubs to spill all over side wall interior of back seat after suggesting that I slalom a random set of poles in a walmart parking lot at high speed. Yes, my friend was even holding onto the food.

2) Hit a pheasant going 80mph. It was walking across the road drunk-like = feather explosion in the rear view mirror, blood stuck all over lower half of the bumper, chip in the paint.

3) Driving through Montana I started to hear loud scraping sounds whenever I went over bumps. I looked under my car at a gas station to find out that the black plastic stuff under my car wasn't attached very well and was sagging. Tried to remove it but I couldn't fit my head or any of tools under the car with the new bodykit. Luckily this dude pulls up with a huge toolbox in his trunk and hooks me up with some ratchets n bits and we tear out all that crap underneathe.

Ah, there is so much more but this reply has gone on long enough!

i wasn't that nervous. i couldn't wait to get her out on some empty country roads and see what she could do. me and the bf broke her in and it was great. we ended up driving to the bay area in my new baby.

I was nervous too driving my Tc home at night after signing paperwork and driving off the lot around 8:30pm. First time buying a car on my own; made a few mistakes, but you learn as you go. I took it easy driving her home - while looking for idiots on the road.
Now, with almost 8500 miles, it has four rock chips on the hood and the rear of my car is getting re-painted (quater panels, bumper and hatch-lid. Plus people come so close to side-swiping me- tourist not knowing where to go, and mom's on their damn cell-phones grrr!! Oh yea...thmb size dents in each front fenders from door dings
