So I'm getting tired of the overpowering drone of my Tsudo Axleback with my headerback exhaust setup so I'm in the market again for something quieter. Looking for something that purrs and makes a more refined sounds rather than the normal tuner car sound if that makes any sense. Looking for something like the the sounds made by the VQ35 motors (overtone purr of the G35, 35z, etc) or something like that refined tone. So any ideas? I'm kinda stumped on this one haha.

NOTHING will make it sound like those cars... there's a whole thread about it. None for the tC are remotely close.

^ We've had that discussion before, haha. Lets help Andy out and see what what exhausts have similar tone characteristics to the G35/350z.

Like quiet, not too rumbley or droney.

Hmm, TRD or Borla?

I gotcha on this one. If you're not going to pick up a Tanabe Medallion Touring, go for the Spintech. FTMFW

Web will endorse the Spintech

edit

I'll vote for the Tanabe Medallion Touring.

Eh. Sounds OK. TRD won't sound good with a header unless you add resonators to the midpipe. Neither will the Strup or Borla.

krdshrk- I know nothing for our cars will sound like a G35/350z. I was just using that as an example for the type of refined tone I'm looking for.

I don't have a header, just a 2.5" spipe and 2.5" midpipe. I'll look into the Tanabe Medallion but those seem to be pretty high priced. The Borla and Magnaflows are also on my list but I haven't heard any with as a headerback setup so I'm unsure if they'll be raspy or not.

Oh I forgot about the Spintech exhausts. I was looking at the Sportsman before I bought my Tsudo but they're pretty heavy due to the SS construction haha

i would recommend magnaflow but its a catback, some people say it sounds like a z or g35. that or you can always get a custom one made.

I can just buy a magnaflow canister and have one custom made as an axleback.

that's what i did, and it was like 140 for parts and labor. it sounds real good and it doesn't drone in the highway like most exhausts do.

Yah but you just have an axleback hehe. It's way louder when you have a headerback setup.

Ah ok. TRD sounds friggin awesome with my turbo and full 2.5". Not sure how it'd sound with the stock header.

I'd keep an eye out for anyone selling a used Tanabe. Maybe a Strup exhaust then too. All of these are if you're not planning on headers in the future.

THE SHADOW

True, spintech sportsman mufflers are a bit heavy but well worth the sound. For whatever car I get next, Spintech will be custom fit to it. They are extremely well constructed and have a UNIQUE sound. That's the key...being unique.

***Has anyone ever tried the actual G35 muffler setup on the tC? It's similar to our stock lateral style, but 2 outlets. I would think that might help getting towards a similar sound but not sure since it's never been tried.

heres a borla with the Tsudo mid-pipe

he states he has a 16" OBX resonator in the mid in the video...i thought the resonator that came with the mid-pipe was an 18" so i'm not sure why he swapped it out for a smaller one

^that does sound nice.

Having heard the Borla with a full setup + turbo, it's not going to produce the sound you're looking for.

^^ hahaha Web with a stock looking tC! Thanks Orin, that sounds pretty nice. Not sure if it's rasp or just the camera though that's making the funny noises
