Not on here to start a flame war, just throwing my opinion out there:

With about $1200 in mods (intake, header, exhaust, stage 2, 2.85" pulley), I'm good for mid 13s in my Ion Redline on street tires (no clue what I'd get on slicks, not gonna risk it).

I've walked out a NASTY turbo'd TC that lived around me, a friend's twin turbo FD RX-7, a few EVO IXs, one EVO X (yes, it's true)...way too many more to list, but most recently, a supercharged Lexus IS300:

MODDED twin-turbo RX-7

That being said (and the reason why I called the turbo'd TC nasty), I'd much rather have the speed/handling of my car, with the looks of a tastefully modded TC. Lip kit, lowered, wheels...they're sleek, plain, but stand out still with a little bit of work. The bottom line, for the money I spent on my car PLUS mods, I'm sitting at about half the price of buying a TC and making it just as fast.

It's a budget performance car, and I got a deal on it...that being said, anybody trying to buy an ALRIGHT looking Ion Redline? I'd personally put the looks of my car up against most TCs, but again, personal opinion. First $12,000 cash takes it

um, what turbo kit are you refering to? and where did you see a rl priced at 25k? i also highly doubt your tc on just springs outhandles a stock suspension rl. what springs do you have? the redline was designed on the nuremburg. the car was designed to take tight technical corners... straight from sport car compact "...Although the tC's acceleration numbers more or less met our expectations, its handling could be better. The tC pulled 0.82g on the skidpad and slipped through the slalom at only 66.1 mph. Neither figure is particularly impressive."

the ion redline pulls 0.85g on the skidpad (underrated) and a slalom speed of 68.4

lmao... and you're referring to the "perceived foreign quality" that marks every toyota, right?

Perceived... you mean experienced.

...I said $1,200 in mods lol. And I got my car for $12,900...I can take my mods off and sell it for $12,500 easy, so I'd say owning it for 2 years and losing $400 isn't bad. I buy used, and in cash...so my scenario is a little different. And my previous calculation stands.

Your roommate can't drive.

And as far as what cars will last longer...the 2.0 Ecotec was built for boost, and the stock block can handle what, 1200hp or something insane like that? Granted, the stock headwork is good for 300-350 until you need valve springs and shit like that. Regardless, 2.0 Ecotec > anything Toyota/Scion. I know of one Toyota tech that has a blown TC motor in his garage, took it out of a car in the shop that had a TRD supercharger on it. The kid with the nasty turbo'd tc that I was talking about, doesn't have it anymore because it blew up. The motors weren't built for boost. And even if you DO boost them, Redlines walk them out.

Again, not trying to start a flame war, but get the facts straight. Our cars are faster, and wayyyyyy better for boost, bottom line. That's just the point I'm trying to make.

So like I said, $12,000 takes it, but only to you TC owners...for everyone else it's $13,000 with mods ;)

I just think it is funny that we have caused all these RL owners to create accounts over here and "set us straight," in the end no one's opinions will be changed because no on cares and we will still retain all of our original opinions. Honestly, to all RL owners, do you see us hopping forums everytime a mustang owner posts shit about tC's or when other imports compare us to civics; do we "set them straight?" Nope, because we really don't care. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

This forum is open to other cars not just scions, but seriously was any of this necessary... it's retarded.

you know what I think is really sad? I have to lock a perfectly good thread because some people are creating accounts just to post on this thread.

If you have no intention of becoming a contributing member of this forum, then GTFO!!!!!!
