are there any claybars out there that use water as a lubricant. [like from a running hose]. instead of a detailing spray

You can try ICE liquid clay bar. Still doesn't use water but you don't have the clay bar. It's just quick detailer btw for the lubricant.

I suppose you could use water, but why wouldnt you want to use quick detailer?

Water won't completely clean the area yor claying. You'd have to go back and detail it anyways.

It will do the job ok. BUT if you want it to be 100% clean obvi use the quick detailer. Water will still help get the tough stuff off but wont leave the shine.

Uh guys - water is just as good as quick detailer. The only reason you use any liquid is to lubricate the clay bar so that it doesn't stick or scrape to the paint.

^^ any type of suitable lubricant for the clay bar is fine.

vice just regular water, i would at the minimum put some car wash or soapy substance in it.

you want the clay bar to glide back and forth without resistance, and the best stuff to use is a nice quick detailer vs. water.

if you guys really are the detailing type, there is a product by chemical guys made specifically for claying a car and works ABSOLUTELY awesome... better than any quick detailer stuff out there.

(psst... can i get a detailing badge? )

If you have soft water at your house, that should provide enough lube due to not having any magnesium or calcium in it. Hard water will not work as well. Just clay it while you wash it and use the carwash as lube. Works great for me

Instead of just water by itself. You dont need to use quick detailer. Soap and Water works just as good, you just need a good lube while working, just make sure however that the car doesn't dry up while you have soap on the car. So a shaded area will be nice.

I used a mother's claybar with water and it worked just fine. Then after i finished i put a quick detailer spray on my car and it looked mint.
