I just used some Turtle Wax rubbing compound on my car where i had scratches from an automated car wash and it hazed my paint and ate away some of my clear coat. I returned the stuff to Schuck's and the guy gave me this wax so i applied that and the swirls are almost gone but are still noticeable up close. ANYways... just giving everyone a warning if they are thiinking of using rubbing compound |

I've used it multiple times and mine comes out like glass. Use small, fast circular motions and keep the rag damp. That will heat the clearcoat up a bit, but not enough to strip it. As you finish a 3 foot by 3 foot section, wipe it off. At the end, go over the car with wax and then detailing spray and it'll look glass smooth. ![]() Ignorance is bliss....305 fo life!...haha...Poser |

compound is suppose to remove some clearcoat, thats why the rag is black when ur done wiping it off.......the swirls are removed by removing a layer of clearcoat |

Depending on how you use it, you can salvage the clearcoat. The point of the compound is to heat the clearcoat up and make it suspend in an almost liquid state once again. This realigns the liquid and blends all the swirls and scratches you see (which are in the clearcoat) and smooths it out again. Yes, you may see a bit of color come out, but that color is not the clearcoat...yet it is loose pieces of paint that have oxidized off of the car. ![]() Ignorance is bliss....305 fo life!...haha...Poser |

Also, along with what Web said, don't put too much pressure on the applicator. Let the compound do the work....similar to wet sanding. My car isn't the fastest car out there, but I'll tell ya.... Sometimes I haul more ass than a pimp driving a caddy full of hoes. Me to Pathik at PRacing.com about modding cars "It's like crack, but you don't lose as much weight...also you don't blow people for performance parts. So I guess it's nothing like crack" |

Yeah, and the turtle wax stuff should do it fine. I prefer Meguirs Scratch-x though. ............... ![]() ![]() ![]() Donate or one of these adorable kittens WILL DIE! |

Since tC is a fairly new car. I would have recommend you to get the Turtle Wax Polish Compound. it's a lil less abrasive compared to the rubbing compound. If not use Meg ScratchX that has never failed me. ![]() Fi8ureM.com - TheFi8ureLifestyle - Coming Soon! - MySpace |
