Yo! I know this was probaly listed in some thread but no sticky and I'm done looking (taking too much time). Ok, I'm going to swap out the stock speakers and start building a system. I have majority of my interior ripped out (no backseat) to do my suspension and plan on re-upholstering all the gray lining to black. So since I'm tearing everything out I thought "Hey! I should build a system again"! I ordered my eDead but looking at the speakers. I shop crutchfield cause of the great deals and been a loyal customer for many years. When you go to "outfit your car" it only comes up with component speaker systems. Well the rear is not a component system! The speaker selection is very small and is confusing me. So, what size speakers will fit the stock locations and do you need new mounts for any specific sizes? I know the front is 5-1/4 and the rear is 6-1/2 but why on Crutchfield it doesnt list all the speakers this size? Let me know cause need to buy soon. Don't want my interior torn apart forever. I got my 2 12" MTX Thunder 6000's that have been my TV stand for years ready to get back in the mix. I have all my old wiring and all so it's all switching the stock speakers and tossing in a better head deck with eDead everywhere. Your going to need new baffles if you plan on mounting them in the front or using 6.5"'ers in the back. I'm pretty sure the rears are 5.25's because they look pretty small and that's what I've always heard, but I never measured them so I could be wrong..When your searching crutchfield and you put your car details in and get a selection look for the 2-way systems instead of the component systems for the rear. |

Will this also require drilling new holes for the screw mounts? Seems kind of odd that the front fits 5 1/4 AND 6.5". Is 5 1/4 the stock speaker size, or is it 6.5 haha. I was also looking at buying a component set, and wasnt sure what to go with as far as size. ![]() The SEARCH feature on the site works, I promise. USE IT!!! I would go with 6.5" for the front because theres some really nice speakers in that size. All you need to mount them is remove the factory speakers and buy a 6.5" adapter baffle from Dr. Isotope, eD, or ebay...The rears all you have to do is screw them back in. |

So you can get 1 6.5 component system which comes with tweeters and 2 6.5 inch speakers, then buy another 6.5 inch set for the rear. Run a 4 channel amp to them suckers and be good to go correct? I want to do this and dynamat all at the same time. Here is what I was thinking. These items plus the baffles. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8553_Alpine+SPR-17S.html http://www.sonicelectroni...wood+eXcelon+KAC-X40.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8549_Alpine+SPR-17C.html ![]() The SEARCH feature on the site works, I promise. That's the idea. You can contact Dr. Isotope for some really good baffles, he does them for both front and rear speakers. Custom made for your speakers. I have a pic of what they look like installed in my gallery. |
