Ive got mine painted red and they got kinda dirty the past few months... Ive done everything except remove the wheels to try and clean then. Ive used several degreasers and have let em sit for a little before rinsing and then repeated the process. Anyone got a good method that doesnt involve removing the wheels? I need to get a brush or something in there... |

Its not really that big of a deal to remove the wheels is it? Thats really what I would suggest. Take them suckers off and get a brush on those calipers is probably the best solution. ![]() The SEARCH feature on the site works, I promise. USE IT!!! Pressure washer? Probably can't be good for your calipers though if you do that. Edited Thread Title to "Calipers" instead of "Caplipers" ![]() ![]() ![]() Are you in SoCal? Come to our CStC meets! Yeah, if you really want to get em clean, take the wheels off and wash them with a cloth/sponge and car wash soap. But if you are lazy like me, do the same thing only leave the wheels on and fit your hand through the spokes of the wheel. ![]() "I have an idea! I was gonna say the aerosol caliper cleaner but since you painted yours then the best bet would probably be car wash soap. |

Soap and water.......pressure washer and chemical sprayers will trip the paint. ![]() I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. A.E. |

pressure washer wouldnt strip the paint if you painted em correctly. Ive held the pressure washer directly onto the capliper and sprayed it down. No paint chipping or peeling, I used engine enamel to paint em and before I painted em I degreased em and clean the heck out of them. I will try this brake cleaner stuff you mentioned. Soap and water will do nothing to them. I need something to eat thru the brake dust sorta like degreaser does to stuck on egine oil. |

Brake cleaner has a chemical base that will peal paint. It says on the bottles to wash off quickly if you spray it on paint. Pressure washers weaken the bond paint has to their surface so the more you do it, the faster that paint will start to fade/chip. ![]() I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. After a while of pressure washing, it will eventually start chipping the paint. If you want to thoroughly clean them, take off the wheels, and use a degreaser. |
