Quick simple question that I just cant seem to find the answer to... I have a stock '07 radio in my tC, not premium or anything (think its the T1807?). In my center console all I have is the power adapter plug and the AUX port for the headphone jack plug and all...and then an empty space where the iPod port COULD be. Now obviously the AUX input sound quality sucks cause you have to use the crappy headphone jack on the iPod and well...it just sounds terrible. Is there any way at all to use my stock radio to connect to the iPod using anything other than the AUX port? Or am I going to have to upgrade to the '08 radio to do so? Also, if I upgraded from the '07 unit to the '08 stock or premium headunit, what features would I lose if any? And what problems would I run into as far as the wiring goes...is all the same from the '07 to '08? |

hey first off welcome to da site!! second... i have an 07 tc and my radio and everything inside is stock. i have the i-pod cap radio and it has its own input outlet jack inside the middle console. there should be 2 outlets there and i would think it blong to da i-pod. it comes wit its own wire so u dont need another one, u plug ur i-pod in and press da aux button and its should play wit no problem...i dont know if dat would help but its a start! ![]() BEER IS CHEAPER THAN GASOLINE NOW...SO DONT DRIVE...DRINK!! I dont have the iPod compatible radio, the only 2 inputs I have in the center armrest are the power adapter and the AUX input, no iPod input. So I cant control the iPod from my radio at all, only from the ipod itself when plugged into the AUX input. From everything Im reading, it seems like Im going to have to get one of the iPod compatible radios and then get all the confusing wires to run from the radio to the center console for the iPod. Am I correct in this? I dont even care about controlling my iPod from my headunit, I just want a connection with a better sound quality...I want to avoid the headphone jack and theres no way to do that with my radio I dont think. Anyone know for sure? |

i am not sure about the 07 hu but remove the head unit check in the back and if you have a slot open where your harnesses plug into radio then its i pod compatible all you would have to do is buy the harness and run it to your center console. I am not sure but back of my headunit on my 08 tc i have a harness that runs from it to the ipod cable outlet in my center console |

I have an 07 with just the AUX jack as well. I use the AUX input from the headphone jack and it works great for me. Yeah it sucks that the songs dont appear on the stereo itself, but I always keep the cover down anyway so it doesn't really bother me. But my sound quality is just as good doing it this way. Well I bought the car used, so I had no wires or anything for the iPod. Im assuming that since I have no iPod specific thing in my armrest that my radio is not iPod compatible. If it was iPod compatible, wouldnt there be something other than just an AUX input in my armrest? Im still reading everything I can on my '07 radio and so far it seems like it is not iPod compatible at all. The thing is though, all Im wanting is a hard connection between the radio and the iPod that doesnt use the crappy headphone port thing...I want to use the Dock Connector on the iPod and have that run straight to the radio for a better sound quality. Looking like I need to start looking for another upgraded radio. |

Okay, I know Im going to have to get another headunit but I have ONE more simple question. Is there ANY way to connect any of the stock radios to my iPod (not using the crappy AUX Headphone jack) but still control the music using the controls on my iPod...and not use the headunit to control the iPod? Impossible isnt it? |

go to radio shack and buy one of the adapters that plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet, my buddy uses one in his jeep...I cant remember if it plugs into the headphone jack or not i think it plugs into the bottom where you plug in the cord to update your ipod. when you buy the adapter it should tell u a radio station to tune to and you tune the radio to that and can then control the music using the ipod ![]() |

Use to use one of those but the sound quality sucked pretty bad... Maybe someone could help me out with one LAST question though. Im sorry Im being such a pain in the ass! Below is a link to an ebay auction for an older 06 radio. The radio doesnt have a button that says iPod on it, but the port is open in the back which is for the iPod connection as far as I know. Now with this older unit, would I be able to control my iPod through the radio and still use my steering wheel controls and all? Even though it doesnt have a specific iPod button on the front? Thats my last question...promise! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaym...04QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW |

ok, here's the thing, the ipod adapter for tC's won't even help in your situation. I'm sorry to say. Not trying to rain on the parade. But, your tC came with the stock headunit. Yes, I know you have the one where in the center you have only power outlet and AUX port. My tC and other's with the upgraded Pioneer unit from Scion, has the ipod port with the adapter. Now, you're probably thinking, you can just go to radio shack and buy an ipod adapter. But, on the back of your stock unit, there's no Ipod connector port. If you really want to use your ipod alot, I would say upgrade to the Pioneer system from Scion, or get an 08 Upgrade system. I have an 07 tC too. But, whatever you choose, be happy that you are driving a tC. LOL... that was my fault on that one, I love my tC. |

Yea man, I understand all that now. I have seen some pics though of the a stock '06 radio that looks like it has the iPod port in the back...would this work? Or is it just the '08 radios that are iPod compatible? |
