i wanted the led enhancement option for my tC but none of the cars at the dealership had them. What-d be the best way to go if i wanted those lights installed now that I-ve already bought the car? |

I got a couple amber LEDs from Radio Shack and mounted them in the cup holders (one to the rear, the second closest to the shifter). I also mounted one in the ashtray. It looks good and only cost $10 and some of my time. |

What you should have done was buy the car and ask the dealer to have them installed with that Accessory (you can always add, never remove) that way you could bring it in later on when they got some kits, AND SAVE YOU ON INSTALLATION COSTS... but if you-re willing to fork the money, go back to the dealer, try and work somethign out. |

Screw the dealer, do it yourself. Radio shack has everything you need. I did it myself and it took an hour for the front cupholders and about the same for the back. Total cost $25 |

I just finished installing my cup holder/ footwell lights. I bought them for $50 and the intructions are straight forward enough. Took me a few hours with breaks and fabrication time (but worth it to save the install cost). If you just want the cup holder lights you could just do as everyone else said and buy some LEDs, preferably not from radio shack as they tend to be cheap and not very good for this application in my opinion, and there is a small section of bare wire on the cigarette lighter harness where you can draw the power from. |

If you do run a direct line from the bare power wire though, do NOT forget to run a capacitor... Youll fry LED's left and right... |

Good call, but I believe a resistor is the required part. And yes this is very important if LED life means anything to you, as a properly set up LED will last 10,000-100,000 hours and at the same time use less electricity. I found this page for calculating what resistor you need depending on the LED specs and source power voltage. http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz |
