wider tires in back ok?

im on stock wheels, i wanted to know if it would be ok if i used 225-45-17 tires for the rear and stock size for the front...my friend just got 18's and his 17" tires r in good cond. or should i just get the front two the same size? thx for the help

The stock size is 225/45/17? There is a disadvantage to having wider tires on the rear on a FWD. It will reduce your handling. If you need tires I personally would just go new. And FYI it is best to have the same tire on each side. So if your replacing the ones in the back you should get the same brand, size, etc. But if this is the case and you need to replace the ones in the rear, you should actually rotate the tires you have in the front to the rear, and put the new ones in the front. LOL brain fart sorry. 215/45/17 is the stock size. I agree if youbare gonna get 225's put them in the frontnot the back.
