just recently my TC has started squealing when I get into RPM's over 3000. It's faint but it's getting annoying. Then if I am running at around 2000 rpm and "goose" it a little it will squeal then too. IT also seems to be squealing after I let off the clutch and press the accelerator. I thought it might be the clutch fork but since it does it without touching the clutch I wasn't sure. Any help is much appreciated. |

If it's a constant high pitched squeal, it could potentially be your serpentine belt. Check under the hood at the condition of the belt. If it's cracked on the ribbed side, have it replaced. This should take care of the issue. If the belt looks OK, get a stethoscope that has a metal rod on the end of it and touch it to the various parts of the motor when it is idling. try and aim for the pulley attachment points on the motor. If you get a loud grinding noise in your ears. You've got a pulley bearing going bad. "Losing is often a temporary condition, giving up makes it permanent." |

^^^^ or you could do it the old fashion method...long screw driver and put your ear to it lol but ya i agree a whining could be the belt...could also try taking the belt off and then start the car and run it around the rpms u said and see if its still there...few mins without the belt will not cause any damage because even if the belt looks good doesnt mean its not the belt causing the squeel |

I don't think it's my belt....I had an Eclipse before my tC and it had a bad belt on it. It only squeals from about 3000 to 3400. It doesn't sound like a belt either. Its a really really high pitched squeal/chirp. I've only had it for 8 months so I'm probably going to take it to the dealer...I was just looking for an easy fix. Think I should reinstall my stock intake before I take it to the dealer? I can see them being dicks about aftermarket parts.[timg]null[/timg] |

I don't think that'll make a difference, but sometimes they can be stupid retards... if you get some fishy ass story, I'd post it up before you give the ok for anything. Mine does this too. It's on and off though. I took it to the dealer and they said they didn't hear anything. I've been driving a couple of months with it and it's fine but still. If your dealer is better and finds the problem let me know so I can tell mine. Also, don't worry about your intake. It's definitely nothing to do with that. They didn't say anything about mine. ![]() -Thanks for the sig Aciidsneaker |

i dont think that you would get a squeel from the intake it would be more like a vaccuum leak like air sucking...as for the belt thing...does it do it when you have it just idling or do you have to drive it??? heres the simple solution to the diy if you think its the belt....take it off! and start the car see if it goes away your car can still run without the belt start it up an see if it goes away if it does then try startin with the belt....or you can take a long screwdriver and put it by the pulley and put your ear to it just got to becareful and if its a pulley then you would tell the difference.... |

It's definitely not the intake hiss. That sounds good. If you heard this you would have different suggestions. ![]() -Thanks for the sig Aciidsneaker |

good to know I'm not the only one with the issue. It does not squeel when it's idling. I have to drive it and get it in higher RPM's for the noise. It seems to be on the driver side because my girlfriend didn't hear it when riding with me. I don't know what could squeel on my intake...if you ask me it sounds like a "rotary squeel". Whatever is making the sound seems like it rotates....of course that is only an opinion. |

Yep, it's definitely a spinning sound. When you take it to the dealership, ask if you can drive a tech to point it out. So that way they don't tell you the same thing they told me. ![]() -Thanks for the sig Aciidsneaker |
