So I just installed my subs in my car and i'm pretty sure I have everything connected correctly. The one thing that may be incorrect is the remote wire, I have it spliced into the white and gray wire on the back of the HU and the amp is getting power. My problem is that the bass coming out of the subs keeps going in and out. It will be on for a minute or so then nothing comes out. Anyone have any idea what is going on? I thought it might be the rca cables but they were in another car right before I changed it out and they worked fine in the other car. Thanks for the help! Matt |

is the head unit factory or aftermarket? if its after market the remote wire sould be connected to the solid blue wire, and if its factory i dont know what wire it is. when the bass cuts out does the power light change color or does the surge protect light come on? if so then it could be the amp overheating or it could be that the amp is going out (not likely though if its new). or i could be the remote wire is grounding out or the rcas. do a quick inspection and make sure wires are not pinched or cut. speak up I can't hear you!! |

I have the upgraded factory pioneer head unit. The power to the amp never goes out, i've been watching the light, no surge protect light either, always has power. I really don't know what it is. Thanks for the help. I may have to try some new rca cables but i dont see how its them. Everything in my car was in my girlfriends car right before i put it in mine and everything worked great. who knows. |

another thing is impeadiance on the subs every amp needs a different impedeance if its a 2 chanell u need eathier 2 ohms or 4ohms bridge refer to owners manual n if its a mono amp u need 1 or 2 ohms again double check ur owners manual and if its not that its wat the other guy above me said the loc or ground a good ground is right at the seat belt nuts.hope this helps if its to loud ur to old,n im always up for a battle of sytems r u?repin nasty stylz auto club in brooklyn ny offering led swaps now on mirrors gauges and hvacs (in red only) hit me up for pricing. gaufes done are mine and batmanstc. |

Another question to add to the list above. Is there any pattern to when they cut out? Like do they play at low volume and then cut out under load when you crank it up, or is the cutout random? If it is this problem, 9 times out of 10, you have the subs wired incorrectly and pushing the amp past its limits when it comes to resistance (ohmage). If it doesnt matter on the volume, I would recheck your ground. If you grounded to a spot that has paint on it, sand down the paint so it is touching bare metal. ![]() The SEARCH feature on the site works, I promise. USE IT!!! I had the problem that I listed above and it actaully turned out to be a short in the speaker wire. There's so many things that can cause this type of problem. That's why I'm trying to get as much specific info as possible so that a lond distance diagnosis can be done. It would be so much easier to just be standing there with a mutlimeter, lol.
