Hey guys..I have a 2007 Scion tC with the original headunit, and I have the iPod hookup cable into the iPod port, not a regular audio jack. I recently upgraded from a 4th Gen (click wheel) 20GB iPod to an iPod Touch. I used to be able to keep my 4th gen hooked up to my car 24/7 and I never had a problem with the battery being drained. With my new Touch, after about 3-4 months, the thing started to lose charge very quickly. I now can fully charge it, plug it into my car, and overnight it will be completely drained of its battery. It actually locks up the headunit and I must turn the car off and back on to regain use of the stereo. I am not sure why this is happening but its beginning to piss me off.(I want to use my ipod!!) J ust wondering if anyone has had a similar situation and also if anyone has any tips. I am debating contacting Apple to try to get the thing replaced, because I have a feeling something isn't right! Appreciate the responses! |

I had the same issue, only with my 4th gen 40 gig Ipod. When hooked up 24/7 depending on the model battery, it will put a memory in the battery that will only give it a shortened life when not on the charger. Usually all items with batteries will do this unless the charger you have will shut itself off when the device is charged. My cell phone will do this when plugged in to the wall charger. So I think you may have gotten lucky on the 1st Ipod you had. Best thing to do is to periodically let the battery drain down to nothing before charging. also, i thought that ipods auto shutdown or went into sleep mode and thus reduce the amount of battery used. that is what it used to do! i could go the entire weekend with that thing hooked up in my car and it never ran out of battery. |

I guess I should have asked this 1st....DUH!! Does your car charge the Ipod while hooked up. "Losing is often a temporary condition, giving up makes it permanent." |
