ok, i've been searching for answers but i still don't have everything cleared up, so i'm going to try to make this as clear as possible. situation: i have a used 07 scion tc. it's got the stock T1806 radio. in the center console, there is an iPod input next to the AUX input, and i know that i need the PT546-21062 cable. i don't have the cable, i guess the previous owner of the car took it for himself. i was just on scion.com to see if i could learn anything about the stock radio, and i watched a short video on what i believe was the 2008 stock radio, and it's identical to mine except in the video, it showed that the auxiliary button on the radio had "iPod" under it. mine just says AUX, it does not say iPod. questions: if i were to purchase the iPod cable, would it even work, or would i have to get an upgraded radio like the one i said i saw in the video? what is the difference between using an AUX cable (which i have) and the AUX input and using the cable that i would need to purchase for the iPod input. the iPod cable is much more expensive and it looks alot bigger and more powerful, i just want to know if it is supposed to produce better sound quality, and what can it do that the AUX cable can't. if the cable would infact work with my stock 07 radio, would it be worth it to buy the cable? the previous owner already installed the iPod input, so should i just go for that, or save a few bucks and use the auxiliary cable. Thanks alot, any help is greatly appreciated, and if you need anything i said clarified just ask. |

if the cable you have plugs into the headphones jack on the ipod, then plugs into the aux input in the center consel, it will still work but the sound quallity will be crappy and wont charge the ipod while playing it in the car. now if you get the cable that plugs into the bottom of the ipod then the aux input, the one that came with the car orig, it sounds a hell of a lot better and will charge ipod when playing it in the car. so, you could use both but i would get the better cable, more expensive yes, but worth it for sound quallity and charging abillaty. |
