its time to change my gear oil, ive been using redline mt90 for the past 28k'ish miles, thinking about using the same stuff unless sum1 has any other oils that they recommend? i know someone was using Amsoil stuff (i think Web), how would u rate it and what exactly did u get from Amsoil?

Has pics of the Amsoil. I'm running the same thing and love it. Smooth shifts everytime.

i guess i have to estimate 2.5 quarts lol, ill add 2 quarts and then half of the last bottle....

isnt there like a overfill bolt where u fill the oil so i can throw in 3quarts and the excess will drain out? (like i thought it was the bolt the dealer uses cuz they pump the oil in)

Some use it but GL-5 is not meant for synchro style transmissions. It's best in fully meshed gear boxes like in motorcycles. GL-5 tends to make a little more "noise" during shifts when used in automotive transmissions calling for GL-4.

Salvo is the only place around my area but you can order it directly from their website. Prices are almost identical to local retailers.

Quote:
The difference in GL-4 and GL-5 is that GL-4 gear lubes have half the extreme pressure additives of GL-5. Because the gear types in manual transmissions do not necessitate the use of GL-5 gear lube, GL-4 is the correct recommendation called for by most OEM’s when gear lube is required.

It's up to the manufacturer and how they want to label their products. It's not a retail type product but one oriented more towards racing.
