So, i know the quality isnt that great, but i was wanting to know how I would go about building my own intake system using the piping from like auto zone and getting a really nice filter.

Anyone done this before? anyone have shots of a "DIY Intake" using the piping from auto zone or some car shop?

I actually have.

I had the Umnitza CF Intake, and it connected to the stock tubing. So - instead of that, I used the Spectre piping from Pep Boys. It's decent piping - you just have to buy the correct sizes and angles. Also of course the cone filter and the MAF sensor equipment. Now - I would only do this for a short ram. I would NOT do it for a full CAI.

Let me get the specs for you - I think actually it was Doc Iso who did his "GFI" - Ghetto Fabulous Intake.

Haha I made one once before I bought a real one I removed my stock air box got about 6 inches on pipe put it in the stock rubber hose leading to the throttle body than put a filter on it... You also have to cut and X into the rubber tube and push the air flow sensor into it..... It worked relatively good... Haha

HAHA that is ghetto! lol

I was meaning the piping from auto zone or pep boys, so it actually LOOKS like intake from name brands but just the "knock-off" way.

Nicely done on that but i would rather NOT do mine that way haha

Why not? It actually works better than most intakes.

Just plugging the silencer and getting a highflow cotton filter will give you a SRI sound...or close to it at least.

I'm still trying to figure out how to "plug the silencer"

is there any pictures or DIY's about this?

And a high flow filter such as K&N ?

This kind of stuff is happening all over the site recently. People no longer want to help others it seems.
