Does anyone know if any exist for tC's? I have the tC RS 4.0 and its an auto. I want to throw a turbo on but im affraid that my trans wont be able to handle it. Any advice other than "shoulda got a manual"?

Thanx for responding. So you think the stock auto trans would be able to handle a turbo as long as I had those 2 tranny mods?

there are many boosted autos! you just dont have the ability to push as much power as manual transmission. and with those two mods you will be fine in the 230-250whp range!

Im thinking about 300'ish HP range. I see a lot of turbos out there for tC's and just thinking about what effects it would have on my motor and tranny.

It's not possible without a lot of work. I have yet to see anyone build the tranny to be able to handle that much power. I may do that myself if mine goes... Put in a high stall torque converter too so I can launch better.

edit: ^ Ahh, there you are

krdshrk has a turbo in his auto. And so does mospeedtc. They are loads of info!

Damn, I'd trade my manual for their auto anyday, haha.

The only thing you really need right now is a tranny cooler. That'll help you keep the transmission holding. However, you're not going to make as much power as a manual tC. You lose too much in the transmission. Still, Turbo autos are MAD fun!

Putting in a high stall torque converter = building the tranny... Not something I'm experienced with yet.

Torque converters and turbo's now that you mention it. Also with these mods, how will it effect the motor and trans over time?

force induction of any kind will cut your motors life sometimes in half.. (depends on how often you boost and the ammount of boost you are at)

Not necessarily. It will take a bit more maintenace but you can keep your motor running fine just as long.

Take a look at Dezod - they make a kit specifically for automatic tCs. I went with GReddy which isn't made for autos, but with a little bit of finagling, i got it to fit.

im sorry but you are wrong the added compression and wear and tear that boost creats significantlly lowers your motors life. its more maintenance, yes... but still puts much more wear and tear on the motor.

I'll agree that it lowers the life, but how much is significant? I've been turboed for over 30k miles with no engine problems.

not that significant! haha instead of possibly getting 400k out of the you might get 250.. which is a lot on the long run!

^^i would also like to add that i based that above number on high boost and boosting alot.. boost levels and level of aggresion in your driving will determine the longevity of your motor/trans.

Tranny cooler is usually all u need until u start adding more ish and turing up the boost the you may wanna go to a place like level10 that can build you a performance trans if you have the money and desire. was boosted for 35K before my motor blew(due to my error not the kit) tranny holding for 40K and so far so good

I've heard more bad than good about Level 10. I think you'd be better off dealing with Dr. Evil transmissions .... it'll cost about $5k
