Got the RROD today, I'm sad and glad at the same time. Sad that I can't play for 3-4 weeks, but hopeful that I get a new 60gb model for my trouble, since the 20gb are being discontinued.

don't send them the hard drive or ur never gonna get ur data back. send them just the box. no wires, mem cards, NOTHING. and you won't get your original xbox back. it'll go in a line to get fixed and as other returned boxes get fixed they'll send u one when they can.

happened to me. luckily i've got a friend in microsoft's xbox division in mountain view. hooked it up with a hdmi version.

the new ones are coming out with a 65nm chip to replace the 90 nm to run cooler and use less power. however this will probably mean that it won't be as stable as the 90nm chips have gone through more revisions.

^^What about all his game files from the hard drive?

If your HD came with the console than you gotta send it back with the console. But if you bought it after or separate you just hang onto your HD. My buddy lost all of his saved game data.

I'd have been pretty bitter about that if I had a lot of downloadable content for games and a bunch of long save files.

you dont have to send the HDD either way... as far as I know they specify that in the sheet they send with the box

^^We were talking about returning it to Best Buy after purchase of the extended warranty. But yeah, you're right about sending it back to Microsoft. They don't need the HD.

^ no even with best buy you dont have to! a buddy of mine kept his controllers, and cables and HDD from the old one, Best Buy gave him the new HDMI console with a new HDD and a memory card as well as a wireless controller! so basically a brand new boxed retail console
