You're E-4 right? Living off-base gets you some good pay, if you live cheap anyway. I make way more than I need to get by with BAS alone, and I only use about 25% of my BAH on house payments so the rest is pocketed along with base pay.
It's so nice, but still I don't get paid very much for the amount of hours that I work, often pushing 70-80hour work weeks. I could make double easily on the outside but I'm just serving my time for now

I agree...in most situations that is. I just got stationed state side, I get 600 for rent, I pay 650, then utilities. In Alaska, I was rockin the pay charts, here...not so much. I can probably spend about 300 a month or so comfortably on my tC, but I do without some stuff to get that money saved back.
