Whats a good brand to get for a dvd/gps/ipod compatable dual headunit. II really dont know anything about it im mainly want a gps and ipod compatiblity unit but i dont want it to flip out and i still want the cover to close.

Ive heard theres some that mess with the hvac controls, i dont want to do that, i want one thats simple and good..

Also what would be:
Average prices?
Assumed installation fee

i would look into the avic-d3... it should run around $600 or so now and days and install is pretty simple. (i'd do it myself)

if not, most audio shops would rip you off charging $200 or so perhaps... i would pay at the most half of that... however it's really simple as you just match colored wires for the most part... i can help you if you really need it as well.

it really isn't that hard

You get what you pay for. The Avic-D3 doesnt even compare with other head units in sound quality. Its a decent unit and all, but for me sound quality was better than having touch screen and features.

The SEARCH feature on the site works, I promise. USE IT!!!

i have the Z2 pioneer. I have a little static on the radio but other than that i love my nav system. i ccan play videos and nav at the same time and it switches screens itself while driving. and it has many devices you can get for it.

if you want the convenience of a standalone as well as the capability of an in-dash,

Alpine has the IVA-W205 and the PMD-B200 Blackbird II (the portable GPS navi unit)

the Blackbird can be inserted into the IVA-W205 so that the in-dash can have GPS functionality. the best of both worlds.. and a portable navi is nice to have to be able to take it with you (if say you're in a different car)

only thing is you gotta shop around for nice prices.. and nice prices are still relatively expensive i'd say.
http://www.alpine-usa.com...roduct.php?model=IVA-W205
scroll down and you'll see how the Blackbird docks inside.
