Ok, now here is a problem I have NEVER come up with, and its bugging the hell out of me. I am doing a head unit install at the moment, and here is my problem. I have all of my speaker wires connected, my ground is connected, leaving 5 or 6 wires still free. Illumination and the solid blue wires are not connected. My Yellow 12v constant wires are connected, and my red 12v ignition wires are connected. These should be working perfectly. I set my presets up in my head unit, and then turn the ignition off. Turn the ignition back on, and all of the memory is gone. HOWEVER, when I leave the ignition on, and just disconnect the Red and Yellow wires, then re-connect them, I keep my memory. This should have the same effect as just turning the ignition off, but something is wrong and Im losing constant power when the ignition is turned off. Anyone have any suggestions or know of a better place to get constant 12v besides the stock radio wires? ![]() The SEARCH feature on the site works, I promise. USE IT!!! your battery wire isn't connected. Either that or you're connecting it to the wrong lead. ![]() |

I would have to see it, but all wire harnesses and radio wiring are color coated, making it easy to hook up. But it sounds like you are losing the consistent hot. A car is only as good as it's driver. |

Yeah, Ive been installing stereos in all of my cars/friends cars, for years now, and I understand how it works. This was a whole new case though. Its not the wiring, its the fact that somewhere along the line, when my ignition shuts off, it loses the constant power that is supposed to be supplied to the 12v constant. To fix this I just ran another wire to the battery and skipped the 12v constant completely. Im on my way to autozone shortly to pick up a fuse to protect the electronics on this new wire I ran. ![]() The SEARCH feature on the site works, I promise. USE IT!!!
