I'm looking to upgrade my speakers, they got some bump to em but its just not enough for me.

Anyone have any suggested speakers they have put in their tC that have some exceptionally good bass and can get pretty loud and stay crisp and clear?

My price range is $250 or less for all speakers.

I dont have to change out the tweaters but some nice midbass speakers would be good.

Perfect choice. For the money, Infinity will not let you down. Their speakers scream man.

I like the infinity!

Are they Components or Coaxles?

They are a component set, so should work nicely with the tC. I found the set on Crutchfield.com for 199, but I would suggest trying www.sonicelectronix.com. The site is down at the moment, but they give the best deals on car audio equipment. Im either going with infinity Kappa perfect series, Infinity Reference series, or Alpine Type-R for my component system, havent figured it out yet, but the reference series is very nice.

Yea I always shop at sonic electrionix

I used to be huge into car audio but slowly ended year or so ago but im still missing the bass lol.

I just want good components that put out good midbass.

and i'm trying to stay under 250 for all speakers.

QUESTION...

how many speakers total? 4 mids and 2 tweats? ( I have 06 tC)

So i would need either 2 component sets and just not use one of the tweat sets, or mount them somewhere in the rear..

Or just buy one component set and one coax set..?

I'm thinking two comp sets would do the job ?

Does the 06 have 8 speakers or something?

You should be fine with a component set. 2 front mids, 2 rear mids, and 2 door tweeters. Stick with Alpine or Infinity for the mids. I had some Kicker mids that were pretty decent a year or so back as well.

If you don't plan on adding a trunk enclosure, why not get a nice set of mid bass components with tweeters for the front and then get 2 6" subs for the rear to add in some bass. You'll end up spending a little more then your 250 cuz you'll want to get an amp to power the speakers, but that might provide you a little more bass then just your standard components.

For the price range given though, component set seems to be the best option. You wont get the bass of a sub of course out of them, but the bass will be there.

Memphis or JL is something you should look into. Even their base model speakers are better than most companies top of the lines.

Im going to have to sort of disagree on that. JL in my opinion is nothing special. They are overpriced on every single item they make, and you dont get what you pay for. I agree that they make good stuff, but its not worth the amount you have to pay.

Memphis however, is an excellent company. I wouldnt go with them for component sets though. I think Memphis makes better amplifiers and subs than anything.

This is just my opinion, but Infinity is probably the best choice. Everyone has their own preferences with car audio equipment though.

Infinity.......good speakers but have you ever looked at the amount of power they want to run correctly?? For the power they need to run right and the sound they produce its ludacris.

If you want to get some incredible speakers you need to look for some of the smaller manufactuers that usually sell through Stereo shops. But be prepared to pay.

If your not looking to spend as much and still get some good sound go with Kickers. theyve never wronged me.

Also for the best sound from components you need to have an external amp going for them. It cleans the sound up tremendously.

This is true. However, with the Infinity Reference series, you dont really NEED to have an amp hooked up to them. They will scream regardless. Kicker is a very good second choice though.

Well anythings better than the stockers.... but to truly get the potential from them you have to amplify the speakers (and not with the craptacular internal amp in your head unit)

I know, i agree with powering them, but i'm not running an amp, just looking to swap out the stocks with something good you know.

What if tho, I did get some 6" subs and ran them off stand wiring from the HU... would they get even enough power to add something?

I would think they may be damaged from high frequencies or they may be damaged from underpoewered

To be honest - the stock speakers aren't THAT bad! They're pretty decent for a sub-$20k car.

Just go with the infinity set. They never dissapoint.

I just replaced my stock head unit today, and REALLY noticed a difference though. For bass and such, its unreal the difference between stock and aftermarket.

i know! they not bad..

Mine is 06 and doesnt have that sub or anything, or the premium sound that ppl say the newer tC's have.. or whatever.

But I know they sound good, i would just like more bass, thats the reason for upgrading

Okay time for the one piece of information noone has mentioned yet. Find a reputable car audio shop and ask them what they think.

Theres a place here in Hawaii I go to for everything. Just because Ive seen the work hes done in some of the Scion Evo. cars out here (i am still a member even though im scionless). Talked to him last night about my Z and he had a complete plan of attack that made sense for the Z.

If you go somewhere and they try to push their most expensive brands on you or talk some crazy shit their not worth it.

Go to a car show and see what shop is doing what and pick one that you can trust and ask about thier oppinion on speakers. Cuz right now its narrowed down to a jumble with no clear cut solution.

Watch out, most car audio shops are just like used car dealers. They will sell you anything and everything if given the chance. Most of them are also 1-sided. They will swear to you and back it all up with fake statistics that their product is the best. The shop will sell only Kenwood JL audio and Memphis, guess what they are going to tell you to buy and whats the best bang for your buck.

Just dont go out and buy the first thing they try to sell you. I think you are better off going from the advice given to you from this site, we arent trying to sell you anything, we are just telling you what works. They will do their best to rip you off in most cases.
