its safe putting the hose over the engine like that? my alarm siren started acting up afterwards and I think its because the water went inside it somehow. |

Dunno about alarms, but the rest of the engine bay is fine as long as you've let the car cool down. Hot aluminum + cold water = bad move! Even Zombies can Search... ....... .......![]() .......................................................................Why Can't You?!?!?! |

yea I have to see where the guy put the alarm sensor, because I notice that whenever I hose down the car, the alarm acts up for the entire day afterwards. |

I would take it to a self help car wash and spray it from a pretty good distance with the power hose just enough to kinda get that moist breeze over it while it's blowing all the other object such as leaves and other crap out...then i would got wipe it down with a damp shami cloth ...then spray a clean dry cloth or old t-shirt (because they are so soft..LOL) with some WD-40 on the areas u wanna keep shiny, clean, and kinda lubed i guess..... BUT..thats how i do it...2 EACH IS OWN!!! ~~Isn't Disneyland a people trap operated by a mouse?~~ |

you dont want to spray down your engine bay after driving it.. let that puppy cool down first. also.. i;ve sparayed my xb underhood with like degreeser and let it sit for a few min, scrub it a bit, and spray it off.. works pretty good. you def want to avoid a direct spray to alarm sirens, and your air filter... those are a no no. 05 XB- Show Car 05 TC- Race Car 86 long bed S10- Beater |

Not sure why anyone would tell you to spray an oil-based lubricant that is flammable onto your engine to "clean" it. A damp cloth with just water is the safest thing you can use. Maybe back in the olden days with old carb motors WD-40 was good due to all the external moving parts of the carb itself, but we have almost NO moving parts that would benefit from this so called "lube."![]() I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. You can buy it at any auto parts store or even Walmart/Kmart/Target. It should be in the auto cleaning section. You'll want to wait 'till your engine's cool, then plastic bag the important sections that shouldn't get wet (Intake filter if you've got a Short Ram, BOV, some potentially exposed electronics, etc). Rinse down the engine then spray it with diluted simple green (you can get pre-diluted spray, or just mix it in a spray bottle). Let it sit for a couple minutes then rinse off. ![]() Scikotics NJ is sponsored by Lawrence Scion 2006 GReddy Turbocharged Automatic tC 220+ WHP - 14.044 @ 97.02 MPH |
