Thinking of changing my interior LEDs

Well, I've been running with white LEDs (gauges, HVAC, door switches, steering wheel controls) and I think I want to change them to red (keep immediate warning lights such as CEL and BRAKE white though). What do you all think? I'm going for a more all red tone with my car lighting (exterior as well). Gonna get red turn signals and red back up lights and just keep the rear a solid red look.

Granted, this may bring a bit more cop attention, but ...well, I rarely use my blinkers as it is...haha

Go for it! I've only seen one or two tC's with all red lighting, and you won't have to do the damn resistors in the HVAC.

Do you think the side markers will come out red with the amber lens?

There's a good link for a DIY on the turn signals I posted in another thread. I'll make a quick sticky with all the LED links for the DIY's and post it back here for ya.

I've already done all the resistors and traces b/c I changed them to white from stock. The red will be easy though b/c they just plop right in and I'm done.

Not sure how the side markers will look but who knows....maybe I'll give them a try. I was only thinking of doing the front turn signals in the headlamps but maybe the mirror LEDs would be good too.

Yeah....the only thing with the HVAC is the damn LCD lights that I can't get to. I tried with my stock one but failed so left them orange. There's 3 LEDs under there I'd like to change but maybe I'll get it when I try it next time.

Oh, I thought you only did the gauges when you did the white swap cuz you didn't want to mess with the resistors. If you don't swap them back they are going to be super bright.

I have a blue HVAC, but ran out of LED's and left amber in behind the LCD screen but changed the resistor, and it is way too bright. I gotta get around to getting those last 3 LED's in.

Here's all the LED info I've come across just in case you need any of it: http://www.clubsciontc.co...hread&thread_id=19514

Yeah, I'm cool with them if they are really bright...better than really dim. If I can find a used HVAC, then I'll start fresh but if not, then I'll just deal with mine and bright red lights

Red would be really hot. But instead of changing out the leds, could you use red vinyl?

yeah, that would be another route to take. For the HVAC, I don't think there is vinyl for the buttons though

Yeah, you should be able to do the buttons by placing a small square of vinyl in the button itself. I think you'd have to do the screen though, and using vinyl will dim the light a bit. Shouldn't be an issue in the gauge cluster, but I think both screens wouldn't benefit from the full light output with a red vinyl.

I'll see how froggy I feel. I maybe want to play around with the HVAC a bit and maybe have a few attempts with my gauges . We shall see...

Web, I have an all red LED swap (except turn signals and engine light in gauge). I do like.

For the HVAC LCD display. It's not that hard. Seems like you have to unsolder the entire LCD from the board but you don't have to. Just bend the LCD display just enough to get your pencil tip solder up in there. With some patience and finger burns you will get them. Bend it back and DAMN THATS HOTT LOOKING!!

I still need to do my door and stereo control lights in the steering wheel which is in order next weekend since I am reupholstering the interior from gray to black but keeping the gray accent (sun visors and plastic parts). Think that will have a nice clean look.

Well I need to order the LED's for the doors and stereo controls and can't remember what type they are. Any help please???!!!

They only thingI hate about red for 05-07 tC's anyways it makes the redline extremely hard to read.

Thats why if you were to do a combo of red/white this is the choice I would go for.

08's is a different story since the redline is bold.

This is pink but you get the idea

Well yeah, its looks nicer is its a clear sharp distinction. I can swap it either way, no real issue.
