Tire Changer

I need to adjust my clutch pedal to engage sooner(starting at the floor in an upward direction). I recently had a new clutch and flywheel installed, and the clutch engages with the pedal nearly all the way at the top.

There is a way to change the engagement, can anyone help me with this?

That's how the stock engagement is setup. You only need to depress the clutch about 2-3 inches to full disengage the clutch. It's part of the hydraulic system with the slave cylinder so to change the distance to be closer to the FLOOR, you would have a little bit of work to do. To change it and make it even higher than stock (closer to the DRIVER), then there's a DIY on Scionlife I can pull.

What exactly did you want to do?

Realistically, the way ours is now is one of the highest I have seen in the car industry. BMW/Audi/Porsche seem to either be at the same disengagement position, if not lower than ours. Honda's are close if not a little lower as well. You have to allow for a little bit of slack due to the pedal being recoiled by a spring mechanism, but the hydraulic portion would require a new slave clyinder and clutch fork possibly, for an even higher disengagement.

I have to push the clutch almost completely to the floor sometimes to get the sucker to engage. I want it to be maybe about 2 or 3 inches from the floor.

Are you on a stock clutch? If so, that's extremely odd to have to go anywhere close to the floor for full disengagement. Your clutch should release with about 2-3 inches of depression from the default position (up). If it takes the clutch pedal the full length of travel to release the clutch, then you may want to take it back to the dealer (unless they changed the engagement/disengagement range on the newer models).

Its not ALL the way to the floor, but I have about an inch of room from the floor until it completely disengages. Im not sure, but I do know that I want another inch or so from the floor.

That's pretty low for stock. Mine's always been really high and it's great b/c while racing, I can shift pretty quick without having to take the pedal near the floor at all.

No, that just makes sure the clutch is fully disengaged from the flywheel and allows the gear selector to move to the higher/lower gear smoothly.
