1. What are the differences between stages of clutchs?

2. What is needed to do a clutch on a Tc?

I believe the stages have to do with grip. The higher the number the less HP you should lose. I noticed that with our TRD the clutch pedal is a little harder to push in, and easier to kill, not sure what stage it is. If you are going to install a clutch I would also get a light weight flywheel.

The main differences between the different stages of the clutches are the clamping force, how much HP its rated at, the material, and pedal feel. If you get a clutch with a high rated clamping force you are putting a lot of stress on your tranny.

Ah, that's why our clutch is harder to push now... Thanks.

closer my dear! its rated by how much torque it handles past stock capabilities...

example..

comp clutch stage 3 handles 200% increase in torque.. again just an example but it rates its capabilities based on torque numbers.

also a big difference with stages and what not is the actual materials used..

carbon
carbon-kevlar

difference in type:

puck
disk..

there is many more but it comes down to the power your making and finding which clutch is right for you... a lot comes into play thats why.. like is it your DD? how much you willing to spend?

before purchasing a clutch determine where your car stands in terms of power, then determine your power goals and make your purchased based on that!

good luck!

Unless your clutch is going, don't bother.

72000 on my stock clutch with NO slip or burning smell. Taken to the track a few times and do the normal daily driving, with some "spirited" runs inbetween. I'm not changing mine until it slips....you would be wasting money.

Very true, Ours was almost gone by the time we bought it (60,567), I took it in to Toyota the day after we bought it and asked if the clutch was going, they said that it was and it was covered under warranty. But I wanted a TRD so said I had to pay the price difference, but I know the manager there. I also told them I was mad that they didn't change before they sold.
