Its a solid unit. The hard drive speed lags a little when changing the screens, but that's not really a big deal. Being that its a multimedia unit, don't expect to get superb audio quality out of it, but if your planning on leaving your component speakers hooked up directly to it (instead of using an amp) that won't matter either. I think its a little too pricey, but I'm sure you'll get some ridiculous hookup... www.sonicelectronix.com has it for 1200 ............... ![]() ![]() ![]() Search or one of these adorable kittens WILL DIE! |

It's an awesome unit, but for those with newer vehicle with special audio systems (e.g. Bose, Infinity) you will need a special wiring harness. All NAV/DVD systems lock you out of certain features while you are driving. This is not new or exclusive to Pioneer. However, there is a bypass out there. Overall it's a good unit. I hope Pioneer updates the software! Once you figure out the menus and intricacies it is fairly user friendly. Strengths: Vivid clarity, miriad of options for XM, Ipod, video, bluetooth and just overall a well made product. Weaknesses: Slow hard drive reaction when changing screens. - Lets not forget the price difference, this unit is much more expensive than other units, that are just as adequate. Summary: If you have the money to spend on it, i would highly recommend it. It has a very large display and gives you many options like bluetooth, xm radio navi traffic, ipod and backup camera connection. I have the AVIC-D3, but I believe this is a better product for serious navigation users. ![]() '08 // Flint Mica // tC |

That's what i liked when looking into this unit, but to tell you the truth i would go with the AVIC-D3, its a great Navigation system, with very accurate information, but without the big price tag for a hard drive..Kristina here's where i purchased mine http://www.sonicelectroni...862_Pioneer+AVIC-D3.html# ![]() '08 // Flint Mica // tC |

i have the z2 and i love it.......i bypassed the safety features so i can change the navigation and play a dvd while driving........the menus are easy to manuever, the resolution is great and so is the hard drive for copying cd's to the unit a couple of downfalls are for bluetooth and ipod connections, additional accessories need to be purchased. flipping thru the playlists and songs thru the hu for the ipod is very slow overall, what i was looking for in a hu w/navi i got |

I like the Z2 as a navigation headunit, but I'm more of a sound quality kinda guy. You can't get good sound quality out of most nav/multimedia units. If you don't care about the dvd part, you can get a great sounding headunit w/ bluetooth and usb and a standalone nav unit that you can take in any car for the same price as a D3 or cheaper. ............... ![]() ![]() ![]() Search or one of these adorable kittens WILL DIE! |

I just brought one on an inpulse buy cause thats what i do, i got the i pod adapter, steering wheel adapter and may be looking to get the video cam! So far so good, just been messing with it and seting it to my liking and putting some nice backgrounds on it. It actually made my stock speakers bump a little harder! I had it professionally installed, but had to do some minor adjustments to it cause the door was not closing properly, i fixed that thanx to all my scion peeps! I hate letting people mess with my car because they always find a way to f@^ck something up, they scratchd up my waterfall! |

Check out the new kenwoods also. Kenwood uses Garmen GPS which is very easy to use and also works awsome. No cds or dvds to load for Nav is a plus. You also dont need to hook into the speed sensor like almost all other companys out there. The Garmen can also be upgraded via USB for map changes as years go by. I have sold and installed all of the different video/nav systems over the years from Pioneer,JVC,Clarion and Eclipse along with the lower end brands Jenson...and the Kenwood beats them all hands down. Ease of use and no video bypass to do to watch DVD and for Navi are just some of the plus points. The Ipod menus and speed to access songs are the fastest ive seen to date. Downside is the Kenwood may run you a couple hundred more than the Pioneer but in the long run you will be glad you spent the extra dollars. Although they just came out with a double din that could be had for $400.00 street price. Add the nav in and youll be at $900.00. Add in Ipod video/audio cable, bluetooth and sirius and now you are at the price of the pioneer. Check it out. Its worth a look anyways.
