So, yes, this summer, i'm dieing to get me some exhaust!!

I'm wondering, because I've never purchased or really got into it, but about how much would you say exhaust runs?

Whats the least you can pay but still get a good setup, and whats the average you can/should pay for good exhaust.

Name some recommended brands of exhaust that are around $500 (including prof. installation)

Thats about my budget for that this summer.. ($500)

So any suggestions on what brand of exhaust I should get that can fit my budget...

BTW, I want to deep rich sound, not high pitched fart can sound. I like the low, deep, loud sound.

By curiousity, if you have exhaust, how much did you pay for it and what brand did you get? (DIY or prof. installation?)

I got a full magnaflow catback system for 370 on ebay, so around 430 installed. Its not just axle-back so it will actually give a small performance boost as well. They have videos of the way it sounds at magnaflow.com. Hope this helps!

Save some cash and install yourself. The Tsudo spipe back exhaust is a great buy at 250+ shipping for the regular style one.

Brief sentence explanation.... Cat-back exhaust is from the catalytic converter back. Meaning from the cat to the tail of the car, all of the pipe is replaced. Axle-back exhaust is just the very tip, meaning all original pipe is still in tact except for the final exhaust part of the sytem (the exhaust tip). You will still get a nice sound from replacing just the tip of the exhaust, but a full cat-back system will give you more horsepower out of your car. The cat-back system replaces your resonator and all piping between the catylitic converter and the back of your car.

I have the Magnaflow cat-back exhaust for $440 with install. Makes the car sound like a beast and a nice performance gain as well. Makes the car sound like a Nissan 350Z/G35 from the inside as well.

If you're looking for an axleback, go with Tsudo N1 from speed-element.com. It sounds so good. Nice and deep. I love how its not all ricey sounding

So by looking at the DIY I think I can do the axel-back exhaust myself... i'm just wondering if it would be better tho to buy a cat-back exhaust system..?

Which is better to get for performance and sound?
- Axel-back
- Cat-back

Also, with installation do you think someone who can do an axel-back install could very well do a catback install?

A cat-back system will definately give more performance. An axle-back will still give you the same sound as a cat-back system though. Any shop that can do an axle-back system should also be able to do a cat-back system. For myself, my cat-back Magnaflow exhaust system was just a bolt-on installation. It took about 45 minutes and was very easy to do. An axle-back installation will most likely take cutting and welding into account. You will still get the same sound out of an axle-back, however I do not believe you will still get the full extent of the performance factor of the upgrade.

Umm..Why?
If anything an Axle-Back is easier to install because your removing less of the exhaust system...A few Bolts and Hangers and your done. I would totally go Cat-Back though. If i could do it all over again I'd get the Agency Power Cat-Back. If you think you can tackle an Axle-Back, then you'd be fine doing a Cat-Back Install. With a Cat-Back, Your really freeing up your stock restrictive set-up. So you have the sound and performance benefits compared to an Axle Back which is completely for sound (maybe 1-3 hp max).

I saw the agency power catback on ebay when i was just browsing at what they had available on there.. I think i can tackle doing a catback myself.. maybe with a friends assistance, other than that i think i would be straight.

But why do you say the Agency Power Cat-Back? any reason why?

yeah i like the sound of the greddy but i really want to build a custom exhaust set up with a tanabe concept g or a medalion touring but it'll be expensive.
i'm probably just going to get a magnaflow catback

Agency Power is just a well known exotic exhaust maker. It's cool they have an exhaust for the tC because theyre really well known in porsche/benz/bmw world. Basically they are REALLY high quality exhausts.

The muffler shop that installed my cat-back exhaust did the entire job in around 40 minutes. The cat-back I have installed was a direct bolt-on replacement to the stock exhaust. Easy install and took damn near no time. From what I understand about axle-back exhausts is that 9 times out of 10 you have to weld the exhaust on to the end of the pipe, where in a full cat-back system all pieces come welded together already and just bolt in place. If you can just bolt-on axle-back exhausts to the tip of the pipe then rock on, however I figure in most cases, theres more to it than that.

No - the Axel-back exhausts just bolt right on.

Most catbacks do too, but some do need to be welded on.

I don't know of a single axelback for the tC that requires welding.

Well, I think from what I've heard in person and been referenced to by other people, I'm going to go with the Megan Racing Spec Drift Cat-Back Exhaust. I found it around $350.00

So, I'm going to save my money for a bit and work towards getting that end of May.

I will wait to see what its like when it comes in to see if i want to pay for install or DIM (Do It Myself)
