lower number is generally brigher, and more whitish in color...as u increase the temps...colors come into play.....8,000 is bluish and as # increases...different colors or degrees of color

Something I learned from operatic is that besides color temperature which can affect visible lumen, the actual wattage on the ballast is also a factor.

operatic has 35 watt ballasts which are bright

and

50 watt ballasts which are crazy insane bright when compared to the same color temp.

color temp refers to the warmth of a color... for example most of the white on this website is 5,000k, but it's not burning your eyes out is it?

according to the website that i got mine from 5000k is the brightest. they are also basically the same as most oem headlights that come equiped with hid systems. 6000k are just slightly less as bright as the 5000k but actually put out a more pure white light. the higher the number after that gets less bright and more towards color changing. but then once you get to far into the color you are probably going to get pulled over because they are no longer showing any kind of white light which is illegal.

source:xenon pros just click on each bulb temp and it will give a description.

Car is being put on hold until further notice. Work will continue pending on if i get the new toy i want or not. I will keep you all posted.

UPDATE ON THE TUNE. It went ok but a few little issues that are causing my performance to be less than expected have shown themselves. Now I have to resolve them when I get the chance and it will be back to PTuning for the finishing touches.

I just remembered it's the measurement of lumen (candlelight power) that determines brightness, not color temp.

5k may provide better night and rain visibility because it's white color reflects much better to our eyes.

Something can be 5k and only have 500 candlelight power

A high wattage system may also be 5k and have 1,000 candlelight power.

Correct....depending on the kelvin rating, there is a certain amount of lumens expelled dependant upon the temperature of the gas when burnt.

Yeah, 4300 will produce a lot of lumens. Usually, 5000k is about 3200 lumens and 4300 is about 3500 lumens
