Well I have Tein S.Techs sitting in my garage right now and I am just waiting to get them on, however I am running into a few problems that I would like to get a second opinion about. Well I have called many known car shops in the area and have gotten a huge range of prices, some of whom or maybe all of whom are trying to rip me off in one way or another. One place I contacted wanted $1000 for install, now that just sounds rediculous. Other places ranged between 250 and 400. Now what exactly is the deal with installing these springs, are they a lot tougher than the TRD Springs that I had on my last tC? They say its very labor intensive etc... and would take about 6hrs for install time (thats one of the shops said) and I frankly don't believe this... What is the truth and lies about what I am being fed by these shops? Anyone with information or first hand experience installing these springs, please respond! Thanks.

$1000 to install springs??

blah blah blah thats all BS they are telling you. you know how much I paid to install my s techs?? $125!!!!!!! I even tipped the guy thats how cheap it was. The ride is perfect, haven't had a problem yet. I got them done at a shop in New Brunswick, NJ, one of the shop owners did it by himself in 4hrs. shop around for the right price, if not, let me know, and I will give you his direct cell number.

Yea the shop that quoted me $1000 I pretty much told them they were crazy but they insisted it was that much work... and all these shops are telling me shit that the tC has a weird setup compared to other cars when it comes to lowering springs... and the same shop that did my TRD springs for $175 with TRD Rear Sway is asking for $250 for Tein S.Techs alone.... I dont know what is going on, if they all collaborate to screw their customers or what if there is really something different... Thanks for the input tho !

Dude, i bought my s-techs for 120 from tcracer here on the forums. It took me and my mentor about 20mins for the front springs and about 2hrs for the back springs. The shops down here would only charge about 100-150 at the most. I just decided to do them myself. =]]

It is a weird setup. They have to take out everything from the trunk, side panels and all to get to the bolts where the springs are. But it isnt worth $1000, lol.

well i install friends springs for like $50 just cuz im broke but if i was makin bank i wouldnt charge anything. im not going to lie the rears are a B***h but the fronts are straight foward. i was working with mayo to install his springs and we were going to take the struts out of the car and bring them to the shops around my area to have them compressed and put the new ones on...the lowest quote we had was $180 and i was already doing most of the install. the dodge dealership i work at wanted to even charge him 650 to do it and i told my service manager to kiss my butt lol. man if you were closer i would hook you up but damn new york is a hike. springs are also very hard to do with out a compressor or the right tools!
