hey people from SoCal, ill be moving to Los Angeles soon and I was wondering how strict cali is on window tinting. I just got my windows tinted yesterday. I saw online that the california accepts 70% on the front two windows but mine is like 20%. Here in vegas there is really no restriction on how dark you can go. How much does cali inforce this 70%?

Seeing as how Cali is rediculous when it comes to modification laws....i'd say you'll get tagged pretty quickly.

if you black out your car with smokes tints and look like that then of course any cop in there right mind will pull you over..unless you lvein a small town were everyone knows everyone. if u have dark tint like me 5% all around then you just need to be a lil more catious. the only reason i got poped for my tints was because i had no plates and dark smoked rear lights.keep your windows down during the day and when you see a cop at night quickly role them down.but if your rolling with like 20% you dont need to worry. alot of cops are more serious about traffic laws and drugs down here. those looser patrol cops will pull you over i ur not careful. youll love la! =]

cool thanks for the advice. some people have told me about rolling the windows down too. i was thinking too you see as long as im down there my car will still be registered in vegas and i will still have a nevada drivers license. im only living in LA to go to school. if i did get pulled over for dark tint i wonder if i could just tell the cop im visiting for the weekend and there my tint is legal in nevada. lol just a thought.

Yup, they can't give you a ticket if you're registered living in another state. School is one of the few excuses they can't do anything to you about.

The law is anything goes anywhere behind the driver's head. You can paint your rears with black paint even. and absolutely nothing in front of the driver's head.

but you'll quickly see that tons of cars are tinted up front. dont drive stupidly and you should be fine..

Oh wait. You'll be in LA. Good luck then. HAH.

Basically, If the Officer cannot see what you are doing at night with the windows rolled up, you can be stopped. any tint is illegal. but its up to the officer really... anything forward of the B Piler shouldnt have any tint on it, B pilar and back can be as dark as you want

in CA, 70% of light must come through in the fronts and anything in the rear.

So what if my girlfriend drives a Supra, I'm more sexier than she is! =)
