Has anyone had a problem with calipers freezing up?

I have 42,000 miles on an 05 tc and when I walked by my left rear wheel I noticed it to be very very hot while the others were cool. I haven't done a brake job yet on this thing. Perhaps it is time?

Heat seems to be eminating from the Rotor.

If so which brakes to go with?

I was thing of the stoptech stage2 that comes with stoptech rotors (drilled) pads, fluid, & stainless steel lines.

Any suggestions?

Just because you go turbo doesn't mean you need to upgrade your brakes. I haven't even autoX'd yet.

stoptech is an excellent choice, all the tests i've seen stoppin distances were shorter than brembo, etc. for almost 1/2 the price.

I would think major alignment prob. b4 brake prob.

People talking about brake upgrades and not actually doing a big brake kit are wasting their breath. The best part of a big brake kit is heat disipation vs. a stock size unit (even vented/slotted/drilled). But, unless you're autoXing your car, the brakes shouldn't be heating up to the point that one particular tire area is REALLY hot. I would investigate the brake lines as well as the caliper first before wasting money on just buying different brakes.

You could also have a bad wheel bearing if only one wheel area is really hot. Any excessive road noise coming from the one tire area?

edit: should have read further rather than just typing. The above information would be useful if you have brake issues or axle noise, but if it's the actual TIRE that's hot and the rest are ok, then I agree with the above post and would suggest the alignment be checked. If the toe of the tire is too negative or too positive, the tire is actually cross-cutting itself and causing excessive heat/road wear.

Complaining is futile when you supported the victory.

Thanks Web for the input. I really feel the heat coming from the brake rotor. There is some heat transfer to the rim more toward the center of the wheel. Recently my low pressure tire light illuminated. I have crummy stockers on it with yoko's right now. I haven't checked the pressure though.

Since the low pressure tire light senses using the abs perhaps it really is a brake issue. I hear squeeking at times especially in reverse.
